Junior guard Stephen Kowolonek scored a game-high 14 points as Highlands, ranked No. 3 in the Enquirer Northern Kentucky boys' basketball coaches' poll, picked up a 54-52 win at No. 5 Ryle on Wednesday.

Ryle had a chance to win, but a 3-point shot at the buzzer rimmed out.

The Raiders led 13-10 after the first quarter, but Highlands managed to tie the score at 27-27 at halftime.

The Bluebirds went on a 15-12 run in the third quarter and managed to hold on for the win.

Junior George Grote added 12 points for Highlands (16-5), which bounced back from a loss to Conner Saturday.
