Where do you all think is the best place to Bass fish???
02-04-2009, 11:41 PM
I fish Dewey Lake a lot when it's warmer and think that Dewey has recently become one of the better largemouth bass fishing lakes in the state, but their are a lot of boaters out on the lake during the summer so it makes it tougher to fish.
Paintsville Lake has some very big bass, hard to catch, but if you can snag one it's gonna be a keeper.
Yatesville Lake is also a really good bass fishing lake.

Yeah, that's what makes it so difficult to catch them.
I hooked one in one of the hollows a few years ago at Paintsville, but it jumped off before I could get a good look at it. That same day I seen a monsterous bass at the docks.

Being a tournament fisherman and traveling throughout Kentucky and the eastern united states it really just depends on the time of year for me. My best year-round lake will have to be Barren River which is loaded with big bass and next you gotta love Lake Murray in South Carolina. Dale Hollow and Guntersville are also up there.

Best base fishing can be found in small ponds that are never thought of as basein holes! Over the yes you would surprised at the monster base that are pulled out if these smallbwatering holes. A few examples are the small ponds on golf courses that catches gold balls all summer long but never have any lines in it and some 12 ur old sneaks out with a cane pole and a worm and bags Mr Bigmouth! Small gravel quarries have also been known to be bass havens along with cemetery lakes where most peopoenever think about fishing. Permission must be obtained but generally the small unknowns are the best bassbaggin places!

Douglas Lake in Tennessee has some nice bass fishing. My favorite would have to be Kentucky Lake but just don't get the chance to fish there often.

I fish on the west coast and we have good lakes with the largest bass in the united states. When i make it back to Letcher Co. i spend my time at a little lake called Fish Pond. It is very similar to the lakes here in that it has Rainbow Trout and very deep clear water. It is my belief that if one spent the time there throwing Swimbaits it could produce the next state record. I have only had one full concentrated day to throw the Huddleston there and though i did not get bit i seen alot. I had two fish in the 10lb class follow the bait back to the boat. Then one in the 12lb class turn off at about six foot out. Throwing alot of swimbaits you learn they are either on or off. In my case they were off. If anybody knows swimbaits and has the time then you can go there and see for yourself. There is an old under water dam about 60 yards out from the current dam. Setup about 15 yards from the sunken dam and bring the swimbait towards it. Make it look like the trout is heading straight towards that old sunken dam. This makes the bass think he is only got three ways to go now instead of four. The trout has to go left right or up. It eliminates an escape route and gives the bass more confidence to bite.
