38-13 at the half? This may be the best Corbin team since 94.

Corbin has such a talented team this year and they are clicking so well and firing on all cylinders.

Congrats Redhounds!

The 99/00 Corbin team was the best team in the 13th region that I've saw since the Harlan/Corbin teams in the 90-95 range. I think this Corbin team can be right up there with the 99 Hounds. This year's team has more God given talent but those kids in 99-00 went 29-2 with the two losses coming on a early cold shooting night and blowing a 12 point lead without their best player to the South Carolina state champs. They played the best team ball that I've seen any team play. Josh Brock and Derek Barton were unreal that season. Everyone else knew every trait and move the teammates were going to make due to playing with each other ever since child hood.

The Hounds drew Russellville in the first round and had a very bit mismatch against 6'11" Tony Key. The Russellville's guards had an amazing shooting night but Corbin kept it close. If Corbin would have played to their best in round 1, they would have destroyed Bishop Brossart in round 2 and would have been the 1 team in the Sweet 16 that could match up with Etown and had a defender in Scott Greiwe that could have possibly been the man to keep Antwain Barbour honest during his monster run.

This years Redhounds have as good a starting 5 as you will find. With a good draw should they make it to Rupp, Corbin could be right up there with any of them. They've beaten South Laurel by 20 and were up 16 very late in the game on Lexington Catholic before going to stall mode and letting LC make it close due to late turnovers in the final 2 minutes.

I actually thought the 94 and 91 Corbin teams were better than the 00 Corbin team. The 94 team was ranked #1 in KY much of the year before being upset in the regional tournament by Jackson Co in double overtime. If I remember correctly JC shot 31 free throws and Corbin shot 1 in regulation.

The 91 team broke Clay County's 8 year stranglehold on the 13th region by beating Clay Co by 17 in the regional semifinals. The 91 team went to the state 1/4 finals where they had the great Fairdale team on the ropes with 2 minutes to play before making a couple costly turnovers and missing a layup.

The 00 team was also a great team. However, they didn't play a lot of the state's top teams. If remember correctly one of the 00 teams loses was to Owsley County.

I think you have the 94 team from Corbin mixed up with the 94 team from Harlan, as far as being ranked. Corbin had a really good ball club; but Harlan was ranked #1 in the state for most of the year - not Corbin.

Actually both Corbin and Harlan were ranked #1 in the state during parts of the 93/94 year. I can remember Corbin being #1 in both the Cantrell and Lit. rankings and Harlan being rated #1 in the AP. Harlan beat Corbin in overtime by 1 point at Harlan the last game of the regular season.

93/94 was the best year I can ever remember in the 13 region. Knox Central and Clay County were also pretty good and Cawood was strong. Many considered the 13th region tournament (in Clay Co) a sham in 94. Corbin, Harlan, and Cawood all were beaten in highly questionable and controversial games.

I may be wrong but I thought Corbin won during Pietrowskis senior year when Corbin was #1 and Harlan #2. Then in 1995 Harlan was #1 and Corbin was #2 when the Hounds upset Charles Thomas and the dragons.

Congrats Corbin.
