Best Pitchers Ever In The 14th Region
#1
I say Jim Creech of Wolfe County in the late 70's and early 80's left handed and threw above 92 miles an hour but never had a team around him. Also, Glen Napier of M.C. Napier.
#2
I saw both of these guys pitch. Napier in the late 70's and Creech in 1980 and 81. They were both very nasty and threw absolute gas.

I have called games for most of thes guys and they are good. I also called games for Creech and Napier and they were a cut above all of these.

I had the unfortunate task of facing both and I would have to agree with you on this. napier threw around ninety and creech in the low to mid nineties. we sure don't see those kind of arms in the 14th anymore.

Here is another name that I would place in the third position. Tim Cornett of hazard. Lefty who threw in the mid eighties and had a great team around him. I guess most people on here are too young to remember these names from the seventies and eighties.
#7
Jerry Noble, who was also on those dominant Fleming neon teams of the late 90's. Was scouted by the Braves and Astros during high school. Could hit around 90-92....

Yes I would put cornett in the top three. He had a nasty curveball to go along with the mid eighties fastball and boy did he have a great team around him.

You don't see many hard throwers in the 14th anymore. If you have a guy throwing 80 to 82 you are lucky. I think kids start throwing too many curve balls way too early before their arms are fully developed.
