Thoughts?
IMO, it will talk a total team effort for the Raiders to pull this one out. Turner will have to hit his shots, Marson will have to penetrate and kick, and get to the FT line, Tommy Joe will have to be aggressive and strong inside, Paige will have to knockdown his patent 15 footer and rebound, the same goes for Langdon. Mitchell will also have to pull down some key boards and hit a shot here or there. Tackett will have to handle the pressure well. Also, the Raiders will need some quality minutes off the bench from Andrew Vance.
Keys for the Raiders...
1. Box Out
2. Take Care of the ball
3. Match P-Burg's intensity
4. Show some heart and play hard.

Obviously, anything can happen. It's a big rivalry and district game.
That being said, P-burg should win +20.
They are playing with alot of confidence and starting to come together as a team. Even though P-burg plays five seniors they are still young experience wise. Tackett and Burchett started last year and Gearheart came off the bench. Setser quit mid-season and Stumbo, Patrick, Hall and Tincher never got off the bench. I think they will continue to improve under Coach Pack but after twelve games into the season there is already a huge difference. Pikeville beat P-burg on a last second shot at home the first game of the season. P-burg beat Pikeville on a neutral floor by 19 a little over two weeks later.
Another step to a District Title. Go Blackcats!!!

Imo, the 58th has always had great rival games and anything can happen but if the Cats come out focused and ready to play i think they will come out with a big District Win.
Good luck to both teams!
Don't let me down BlackCats!!!!!!

Prestonburg 78-60

Prestonsburg should win by atleast 20. I expect big offensive games from Michael Burchett and Jody Tackett. Another defensive game like Alex Stumbo had against Sheldon Clark last night in the press, then South Floyd won't have a chance.
Steven Patrick needs to use this game as a confidence booster. He matches up well against the Raiders' bigs.
Good luck to both teams!

In rivalry games anything can and usually does happen. Coach Hall is a veteran and has an excellent group of assistants working to bring this team together. They have been injury riddled and faced a brutal Christmas break schedule that had them playing virtually everyday for the duration of the Holliday season. Like many teams, these veteran leaders have a solid idea of what they can expect from their team in different situations and will be able to use the experience gained to match up better in the late stretch of the District schedule. I feel like even though they are not yet at full strength, playing so much during the break will be a positive for the team. They should be competitive with their District foes and close competition will bring South Floyd some much needed wins. Coach Hall does a great job focussing on the positives and using any negative as a focal point of improvement. He has won the big games in the past, so if the game is competive and close, he will motivate, inspire and help these boys get over the hump. This game will be tighter than some have predicted. And like I said, if it is close at the end, watch out for the Raiders.

I think it will be tough enough for the Raiders to keep it close. If they somehow do that then I still could not see them winning @ Prestonsburg.

Pburg by 25-30 unless they call off the dogs early. SF is improving, but it is tough to walk into Pburg and win
