It does'nt matter how good or bad a team is, if your playing for a coach the players should show respect no matter what. Maybe that's the problem here. Get behind your team with a positive attitude and stop bashing the coach and some of your not so favorite players. Maybe you'd see a change. Hey what do you have to lose ,right!

I hope you all are not talking about coach Hall like this just over the Cordia game. Cordia is better then Powell. Powell did beat them in a scrimmage but Cordia did not have #34 and #24 two starters. Cordia did have Randy Lewis but he could not play his way out of a wet paper bag. Give coach Hall time and don't be like Kentucky. Everyone was saying to get rit of billy g until he won the sec coach of the year by going 12-4 in the sec. Just give him time and let him get the players that are willing to get the job done. Like I said earlier, he needs kids with heart and want to...and a coach can not give players that, players must realize this and come and work hard every practice.

It's people like you that is destroying the program The Only One. You do more harm to this team by getting on here and bashing the coach, than any coach could ever do to this team. Get a life, or better than that get another team. Be positive, negativity get's you nowhere.

i was at this game 2 and hawkins didnt come out until the 4th quarter when powelll had a big lead then he got hurt , tht being said i think the pirates would be alot better THIS YEAR with him but in the long run it would have hurt them because his terrible attitude would have rubbed off on the younger players ..... also i hear he is eligible now , how is he eligible and crowe not eligible ?

Thank You theonlyone for agreeing with me.I think next year there will be a great change in Powell County if he just leaves. That will help our team more than anything. And the 8th graders coming up r pretty good, after they got a better coach this year. Oh and i almost forgot, congrats to coach hall for ruining his 3rd basketball program!!!

I hate to go and watch the basketball games at Powell now, because the opposing team is in a Giant lead they just quit playing. After the lose to wolve county Powell is waz a whole Differrent team. They just lost theirs heart for the game of basketball. And it really suxs to see my friends doing so bad and it really hurts them to lose. So coach Hall can u do us all a favor and quit.Go ruin another basketball program, feel sorry for who ever gets this coach after Powell finally gets rid of him.

The board does not have a policy that prohibits a principal from coaching but they ask that they not do both, I think some of you need to re examine what you are talking about. Coach Hall is a very good teacher and does a good job with his assistants to try to teach the kids, the biggest problem I see is that maybe he needs to not reward the kids that give him attitude like the ones who have left this season and they both needed to be let go and more may need to but it is not the Coach it is a problem that goes deeper into the feeder systems but they now have a solid Coach at the MS and they do need to address the elem teams that is where it needs to start. Good luck the rest of the season everybody needs to support the boys and the coaches and see if that helps. we all need to give the Coach a chance.

Between injuries, boys not playing, boys transferring, what else do you expect. Powell County had its run. It has nothing to do with the coach. A coach can only do so much without any talent. If you can't hold a coach responsible for the team then why have one? Youi can't just say he doesn't have any players . Its his job to produce a team, if he can't then mpve on.

After the game is about the players, I f coaches loved the game like the kids do, they would coach for free. How many do you know that will do that?

well heck what do we have to lose. lets see we have lost 9 of 10 games. your right we have nothing to lose because we now have nothing good one. i am definalty not bashing the coach. i am asking some obvious questions. like why is our best free throw shooter not shooting the technicals, or whay would you start 4 freshman in a game and wonder why you lost by so little, or why not run plays around your two best players creech and reed, and yes i have the stats to prove this. and hey why arent they working on lay ups since they miss so many and hey why is the coach constantly screaming at his good players and then apologizing have proof really. want the stats here they are.
AFTER 10 GAMES
CREECH 119 TOTAL POINTS AVERAGE 11.9
REED 103 TOTAL POINTS AVERAGE 10.3
CONELY 93 TOTAL POINTS AVERAGE 9.3
RICE 52 TOTAL POINTS AVERAGE 5.2
ARVIN 46 TOTAL POINTS AVERAGE 4.6
JONES 42 TOTAL POINTS AVERAGE 4.2
SO MAYBE THE COACH WOULD TRY A TEAM THAT IS SMALL AND FAST OR ALLOW CREECH AND REED TO DRIVE THE BALL MORE INSTEAD OF RUNNING ONE OF OVER 22 PLAYS THEY HAVE TO REMEMBER THATNT EVERYONE GETS MOST OF THE TIME. BY THESE FIGURES OUR BIG GUYS SHOULD BE GETTING MORE POINTS. HOW DO WE HELP THEM DO THAT? THEY ARE ALL TRYING I THINK THEY HAVE PLENTLY OF TALENT AND ARE DEFINATLY NOT THIS BAD. I HOPE THEY CAN SEE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.

These boys basketball is over because of him' and people say give him a chance. If you are a real coach you don't spend your time talking about the coach you replaced

I can think of a couple of reasons..... 1st- They have to deal with players and parents not buying into their system what ever it is because a lot of the time if a kid has played under a previous coach they have it in their head when the new coach is teaching they respond by saying that is not the way coach so and so did it and the parents are often just as bad; 2nd- A coach is only as good as his feeder system, if a coach had to come in and teach basic fundmentals of passing, rebounding, defense then it is going to take at least a year or two because after the fundementals he will put in his system.
Also I don't think coaches run kids off, they quit. If you are going to play any sport you do as that coach says or you don't play. A kid with heart and desire plays and gives his best effort every time he steps on the floor (practice or game) you work through the tough times and make something out of it. What is that kid going to do when he gets a job and doesn't like his boss....Quit?
As for the pay, I don't think the coaches are compensated nearly enough for the time they put in, the just about do it for free because they do love the game. I don't think any high school coach has got rich from coaching.
I understand the AC kids were put in a bad situation with the firing of a great coach for no apparent reason. But if you look back just about 5-6 years ago Coach Johnny Martin had a couple of terrible seasons with a young team and look what happened because the kids stayed and played their hearts out. What would have happened if those kids had said he did not know what he was doing and quit?

Okay, first off coach hall didn't "run off" hawkins and crowe, they quit because they were frustrated after a pre-season SCRIMMAGE. I wish the best of luck to them in there new teams, but they chose to leave.
Next lets not forget one of our starters from last year transfered before coach hall was even hired. if any team lost 3 starters, no matter who the coach is they will have a rough season.
And last, if you don't play then you don;t know what hes like in practice, you don't know how he tries to teach, you don't know jack, so quit talking like you do, cause you don't. Also, I heard that the freshman team for powell just killed estills freshman today. Watch out for that group in a couple years.

I forgot that Hawkins did hurt his ankle...but when he did play, he scored a lot and put the Pirates up. And when he came out, they didn't play as good.

No, its just not the Cordia game. Its been the whole season. Him running off our two best players, and a big man that was very good down low. He lost the Wolfe Co game for us. He is just a horrible coach.
