Which do you all prefer? I personally think it should be Christmas particularly because that is the holiday and it is in honor of Christ's birth. I ask this because nearly every department store I've been to says Happy Holiday, or X-mas but never Merry Christmas although they used to when I was a kid.

Whatever you do dont say Happy Holidays, anytime during the year, or Bill O'rielly will come down with his moral hound dogs and beat you to death.
On Christmas day, I always say merry christmas, but before that it's usually a mix between happy holidays and merry christmas.

You should say whatever you want. I'm not going to be offended if someone wishes me Happy Chanukah, Happy Holidays or whatever.
Personally, I've never heard anyone say "Merry X-mas." I've seen it written, but that was only as shorthand, usually at store where they don't have enough letters to spell Christmas.
Anyways, you shouldn't be offended if someone uses Merry X-mas anyways. X (or Chi) is a Greek letter for "Christ" so there's no need to complain there either.

I don't see the big deal in saying happy holidays, because when I use it I am refering to Christmas and New Year's as alot fo the people I see around this time I only see once and won't get to wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Now if I hear som e moron going around saying Merry X-mas, thats gonna get under my skin a bit.

Same here. I'll say Happy Holidays if I won't see that person again until after Christmas AMD the new year. But otherwise its
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Well, nearly everyone celebrates the holiday. As much as we hate to admit it, it is just a gathering holiday rather than the celebration of the birth of Christ for most.
So, being liberal and all, I saw if you are religious, then you should say merry christmas. If not, then don't pretend to be, and say happy holidays.
Heck, just say whatever you want, enjoy the holiday, and try to have a great time.

I say Merry Christmas out of habit, it has nothing to do with religious affiliation.
