Pike Co. Bowl Attendance
#1
How was it for the first night?
#2
If you know much about Valley, the parking lots were all full, people were on both sides of the four lane, cars lined up all the way to the bridge where you can look down and see Quality Foods.
#3
Both stands were absolutely packed. There may have been a few seats over by the band, but not many. And, as the previous post said, cars were parked, even double parked, on both sides of the road from the Quality Foods bridge past the entrance to the high school.

Congrats to Valley for doing a great job handling the concessions stands. With a crowd like that, I figured I would have to stand in line for an hour to get something to drink. But, I went there 3 times with my cousins and didn't have to wait long at all.

Over all, last night was a huge success, imo.

The Belfry Holy-Cross game was NOT at all what I expected it to be. Knowing the usual fan base of Belfry at the PCB, this was by far the smallest crowd I have ever seen. Holy Cross had a few fans but not many!!

Would like to see the format moved back to where Belfry and Pikeville play on the same nights with the site rotating back and forth.

Seemed as though crowds were larger on those nights with some of the state's better teams taking on the two better programs in the County and from a fan's point of view a great "value" to see two very good ballgames.

Due to "politics" probably not going to happen.

Concessions was horrible... They kept running out of water an pop... It was ridiculous, they should have known they would need alot more refreshments for a Belfry game...

Your post is the only negative one, I think you should consider posting true information.

They really did run out of water and pop, not being negative but that is the truth lol.

Shelby Valley did an excellent job hosting the bowl game.

If Pikeville and Belfry want to host their own bowl game then more power to them.

However I feel the Pike County Bowl is a win win situation for Pikeville, Belfry and the rest of the Pike County Schools.

I was not charged an admission fee! I am a decent guy so I literally looked around to see who I was supposed to give me money to, but nobody was taking up money. I SWEAR this is the truth. It was midway throught the 3rd quarter of the first game.

Free admission! Gotta love THAT kind of Pike Co. Bowl!

stay on topic please...The thread is about attendance not the concession stand

Sorry FoxSports.

I think you run a good site here, but I think the question was really digging a bit deeper than - "what was attendence (#)?"

All of us were curious about how Shelby Valley would perform as host. I thought they did pretty good for the most part.

How is the PCB a win win situation for Pikeville and Belfry? Pikeville and Belfry would make a lot more money if they had their own bowls. It's lose lose for the rest of the schools if Pikeville and Belfry bail...

PCB would take a HUGE hit if either decided to leave.

To be honest there is going to be a deal out there for Belfry to host there own bowl in the near future, question is will Coach Haywood take it.

The sponsor is wanting Pike Central and Belfry to play(not each other) the 1st Sat of the season @ BHS with BHS playing the night cap........going head-to-head with the PCB.

Attendance was fine...

Concessions had issues for the night cap....

The smoking ban inside the stadium needs to be enforced....

All in all, good atmosphere, managed well, good crowd, but seemed like it was missing a little bit of excitemement and had the minor issues I mentioned above..

Pike Central/Belfry double header isn't an upgrade from the current PCB...however, they would make more money and Pikeville would be crazy not to have their own bowl, with three other marquee teams which would trump Belfry's bowl...

Problem is travel, as most local teams that are good have their own bowl.

Its just being talked about now though, nothing set.

I say let Pikeville bail. Let Belfry and Shelby Valley host every year. I do not think either site would actually lose moneySmile . Pikeville can have thier own bowl and it would benefit them also. From what I hear they may not have a choice but to bail, but that is just here-say:confused:
#21
Im not sure what will happen IF ANYTHING. BUT, if something does go down, Belfry & Pikeville should band together. The best two teams in the County.
#22
Belfry needs to stand alone and be one of the host every year. They do not need Pikeville to attract teams. Shelby Valley has a great facility and they need to host the other date. Pikeville needs to host the PIKEVILLE BOWL and they would draw a nice crowd also. Let them play Letcher and the Howards the first game. Let Belfry open up with Jonson Central.
