Johnson Central/Bell County Scrimmage
#1
Thoughts? Predictions? Tacos?
#2
Gosh this one hurts me to think about a prediction.
#3
Anyone go to this one. How did the teams look? How did it come out?
#4
Final score:

Johnson Central 29
Bell County 22
#5
Any details of how it looked?

I love it. They didnt play no McCreary Central or Volunteer High tonight. They played some real competition. I think your Breathitts, Belfrys, Prestonsburgs, and JCC can beat Bell Co year in and year out. Bell Co has great records because they never play anyone..

How did JCHS look?

I heard that the score was 31-29 Bell County...what gives?? Also Jackets08 why do you persist in your vendetta against Bell's schedule that they really cannot control due to reorganization last year and this. They already have signed on to play Harlan Co. for next year as soon as they could. Guess what.....Bell and Johnson Central played LAST year. This was a reciprocal game......Bell's players had long ride up on hot buses this afternoon to play this game. Heard they started out slow, but came on late. Also heard Bell had some key injuries. Anyone know about that?

Considering the way that Bell has owned Middlesboro in the recent years I really don't understand Jackets08's fascination with bell not being on par with Belfry, JC, et all...... if his arguement is correct it means Middlesboro cannot be close to being considered one of the mountain's elite teams.

JC put there jv in the game at the start of the fourth quarter. When JC's varsity went out they were leading 29 to 22. I was amazed how well the Johnson Central jv offense moved the ball against Bell's starting D in the fourth quarter.

Sounds like both teams will get better from this!

It doesnt matter. Bell Co people think theres no one in the Mountains that cant beat them. Whats so funny is the ones they can they wont play them. Prestonsburg beat Bell in 01 and 04 but Bell Co wouldnt never play them again. Yes Bell Co owns Middlesboro and they know it. Bottom line Middlesboro gets outcoached. I remember a few years back when Corbin came to Log Mountain and beat Bell Co. That was the same year Bell destroyed Middlesboro. That was also the same year Middlesboro went to Corbin and beat Corbin on there own feild after Corbin just beat Bell Co. Middlesboro never mactched up well against Bell Co on the coahing side of the ball. Also 2 years ago I think Bell Co barely beat a Leslie Co team 7-0 with the only TD coming off a Punt return. That was the same year Middlesboro beat Leslie Co 21-7. I just think if Bell Co is King of the Mountains which is over all there apparrel, they should play the teams I mentioned above in a earlier post.

Never have I seen/heard phrase "king of the mountains... or on apparel!" And that Leslie County game......was played up there in driving rain and on a muddy field that no one could do anything on that night!! And once again....the distance can be a problem.....Bell's players may have looked a little flat because of the 90 degree heat on unairconditioned school buses for over three hours!!! That distance is a real hardship and you don't see very many teams from the southeast corner traveling those distances to play.

You heard wrong!!!!!!!

I believe the scoreboard was cleared when the 3rd quarter ended and before JC's JV played a few series against Bell's starting D.

I'm not sure you can judge either team from this scrimmage. Both Bell and JC played A LOT of young kids from the start and both teams ran mostly the same plays over and over not showing much. I was suprised how well both teams moved the ball against each others defense. IMO they both have a ways to go on the defensive side of things. Also JC's first team O had a few problems early on with the QB running into the RB a few times. Matney will have them ready for next week but honestly I wasn't impressed that much with them last night.

The Leslie game was played on a clear night. Spencer Greer ran a punt back for the only touchdown that night. One of the hardest hitting games I'd seen all year. Also, that was the same year Leslie got hosed on that 2 point conv. at Middlesboro. Ball hit the pile on. TD. Anyway, Leslie's D was tough that year.
