Reports recently surfaced about the huge endowment funds of Colleges and Universities, as of 2007 over 76 Colleges or Unversities had endowment funds topping 1 billion dollars, with Harvard's fund reaching 35 billion dollars. These endowments average 17% return rate last year while these schools only spend about 4.5% of the funds. It's amazing to me that these schools have so much money in these funds, yet for some reason their tuition rates continue to rise 8% per year.

My school's endowment is 1,650,000,000. They are supposed to be using more of it and I believe that the have because there are a lot more scholarships available to students as well as many major improvements on campus (but then again many of those are privately funded)

I hope the schools are using more of the monies, I would love to see more scholarships made available. What I find annoying is the fact that these schools are raising their rates while having so much money in their endowment funds.
