Paintsville-72 Pikeville-69 (2OT) - 15th Region All "A" Classic
thepharmacist Wrote:One overlooked mistake by the veteran crew was after giving the ball to Baker at 10 sec (fT shooter) still allowing BMR the timeout. Great game though Pikeville will continue their steady improvement under Willliams. good luck to Bill Mike and the Tigers.

I thought that was a good move by BMR. He talked to the refs for 30 secs before the TO was taken. BMR got to ice Baker for an extra half a minute during the confusion!

Yes....I agree! Once they signaled TO, BMR knew he had to take it, but was smart enough to milk it for at least 30-45 more seconds! It was kind of like the way Bart kept finding all the water on the floor during the fourth that took about 2 minutes to clean.....or should I say find and then clean it up!!! Both were excellent moves, and on BMR's part, might have been his best bit of coaching the whole game.
Congrats Paintsville.....but had to be one of the worst officated game of the year....

BMR didn't just fall off the truck yesterday Smile

I'm sure BMR had his reasons, but I couldn't figure out why Paintsville didn't attack the basket in the last minutes of the 1st OT when Pikeville had several starters out of the game. Paintsville held the ball for around 2 mins & Pikeville was perfectly content to let them.
Congratulations, Paintsville! I know you will represent our region well! Awesome game Pikeville! You guys have nothing to be ashamed of! So proud of my 2 favorite panthers - Matt & Jordan! You guys were amazing!

No offense taken! I was just stating that you could list turning points all night long there were so many. You could blame a zillion things for each teams performance. You can find infinite horrible and bad calls and no calls by the officials that went both ways. You can find good and bad decisions by each of the coaches. Bottom line, the game went the way it did and due to pure hustle and giving 150% effort, the Tigers won. Each team should be proud and hold their heads high.

Can't wait for the rematch in Paintsville. Bart Williams is a great coach and had his team playing very good in this tournament. You guys (well I know you go to Paintsville, but I count you as a Panther fan) have a great coach!!!
Im not for either school...I watched this game and it had to be the worst called game I have ever watched...Paintsville was all over them on the press and pikeville had 3 starters foul out!!!

If they had called every foul in this game, Paintsville would have still won, because IMO, they would have had their last 5 guys on the floor when Pikeville's last one fouled out. But I think we all agree that we have terrible refs!
Great game, Pikeville played well enough to win but turnovers killed them. Good luck Paintsville.
Great game to watch. Both teams played hard and left it all out on the court. The re-match on Paintsville's Senior Night should be another doozy. Congrats to both on a well played game and best of luck to Paintsville at state.

It goes both ways bud. Everytime Paintsville brung the ball inside for a shot they were slap on the amrs or body slamed to the ground lol.
Great win. Good luck @ Richmond
I never complained in this whole thread about the way the game was called. I did question the free throw though. That isnt a judgment call, it is a firm rule. It seems after reading many of these posts that refs just cant win. If they call it close, people get mad and say let them play. When they let them play, the people say they should have called more. I think they should let them play and not do the touch fouls.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It is the size of the fight in the dog.
In my opinion, this was a great game to have witnessed. I think Bart Williams and his staff did an excellent job of coaching in this game. I think this game also shows that Paintsville may have a tough time against a bigger team and against the 2/3 zone if they are not knocking down shots.

Paintsville did show great effort coming back in this one and Slone had a heck of a game.

Played well enough to win? We led most of the way and it wasn't Pikeville who had to hit the last shot at the buzzer to put it into overtime after they traveled several steps to get there. I know we lost, whoever's fault it was wasn't because Pikeville didn't give 150%, we were the underdogs that no one would give us a chance to beat SV and was really wondering who would come out the winner between SV and Paintsville. Not only did we beat SV but only lost to Paintsville by 3. The rest of the story will be figured out during rematches.
great win Paintsville-make the mountains proud in Richmond:Cheerlead
Considering this was the final game of the All A regional, I think it would be ok to say this in this thread. It doesnt matter what school you are from now, all teams in the 15th, should be a Tiger fan come Thursday night. I know I am going to be pulling for them as should Valley, Pikeville, Betsy Layne and all the other teams in the 15th should. A state championship even if it is the little one in Richmond would look very good for this region.

Excellent post! I totally agree! I wish we could all put aside the cut-throat competition that we see at every game! It would be so wonderful to see players (and parents) show each other respect for their talents and hard work. All of our kids so deserve it and I know this is the way God would want it to be. In the end it is not going to matter how many games we've won but how we've treated each other (and He's watching)!!!

Good post!! I think that whenever any of our 15th Region teams play outside of the Region we should all back them. That makes our Region look good. We are looked down upon enough by the rest of the state as it is, we sure don't need to be against one another when we play other Region's teams!
I just hope Paintsville makes it to this weekend. I would love to have to drive that far to watch a ball game. I just hope someone brings a extra shirt for me to wear if I am there.

Excellent post! I totally agree! We should all cheer Paintsville on to a victory since they will be representing all of us. It is so sad to see all of the bad sportsmanship and cut-throat competition displayed at most of the games! I wish all of the fans, parents, and players could show some class and respect for all of the hard work and talent of all our teams. We have an enormous amount of talent at every school in our region and a lot to be proud of and thankful for. Let's be encouragers for all of our athletes! I know God would want it this way cause in the end it is not going to matter how many games we have won, but how we have treated each other! (He's watching!) Good Luck Tigers!
From what I have heard this was a great game to watch.
Good post...Tigers played a good game...Good Luck in Richmond
