Clay County jumped out to an early 4-3 lead but that would be the last time they would for the night. The Puple Hurricanes grabbed control early, forcing the Tigers into 21 turnovers while shooting only 40.4% from the field. The lead grew to 33 points by the end of the 3rd quarter. Justin Hobbs was the only Tiger to register double digits for the night as he finished with 10 points. The Canes landed four players in double digits led by Greg Gantt, the 6'2" Junior was 5 of 7 from 2pt land, 3 of 7 from the arc to finish with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and a steal. Gainesville (FLA) is coached by by Tony Wise, a 1989 graduate of Scott County High School and 1993 graduate of Georgetown College.
Gainesville will hook up with Scott County tonight at 9:00PM in what should be an extremely fast paced game between two teams who love to press and push the ball. Scott County could take one on the chin tonight, they have won 7 of the last 8 Toyota Classic Tournaments.
