That's a good idea. JC and Lawrence, two quality teams, adjoining counties, they should have this scrimmage.  Shoot maybe even play a regular season game sometime down the line.  Idk much about Russell but I'm glad they're taking part in it too.

About as good of a three team pairing for a scrimmage as I can think of.

All three teams should be competitive, all three teams should bring good experience and good line play to the table, and the three teams have enough of a varying style that each team should benefit from the live reps.

The last time Johnson Central played Lawrence was in 2006. Lawrence County leads the All-Time series against JC 10-4.

With the 10 (or so) plays of Off./Def. in a series and also mixing the varsity & JV/Frosh together, it's difficult to get a good read on anybody......... BUT, IMO......

- Lawrence has some size and a few skill positions that stood out.

- Russell looked decent as well.

- Johnson Central looked pretty good. JC's line on both sides was noticeably bigger.


All three teams got some good, useable information before the season.

JC was without some of their starters tonight. The Lawrence QB can along it. Also Lawrence got back under center some tonight

I had 6 scores for LC, 3 on both Russell and JC. Russell didn’t reach the end zone against LC and JC scored 3 times on Lawrence as well. All teams were working on different things, using a lot of players on both sides.

My takeaways: 1) JC secondary needs to be an area of focus. They got beat deep a few times.
2) JC o-line is very good. The center (Davis, I think) is very skilled and looked like a man throwing kids around. Adkins also looked very good. He can move well for his size.
3) LC quarterback is solid. Very accurate passer, and runs well.
4) Russell can compete in their 3A class. They need some help on the D-line.
