How long is it going to take the 15th Region to realize they are letting a 16th Region School Dominate in multiple sports?

About as long as it takes the politics to get out of Pike and Floyd County systems and hire quality coaches.

Population will have to grow in the 15th.

LC had a good year. First one in multiple sports in a very long time. They have not traditionally dominated the 15th, but nice try.

Tough to consider Lawrence the top dog when they've only been the top dog in the region this year. And they just lost their best basketball player to Boyd County so that hurts as well. I don't think Feltner has ever won a regional baseball tournament. And their football team is not world beaters. But they've had a great school year this year and as long as Patton stays at Lawrence, their girls teams will be competitive in anything she plays. They got great coaches there though. Feltner is baseball and Thompson in boys basketball and then Mrs. Feltner in girls basketball. They have a good thing going.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

Lawrence last won the region in 2019.  I'd need to look to see when he took over from Keeton, but Feltner has a few regional titles.  LC has 8 total.

Can we at least get them out of the 58th? One of the weakest districts in the 15th (outside the 60th) and we get stuck watching them win district in every sport every year. At least stick them in the 57th and give us Magoffin.

When they were sent to the belfry district for some reason none of the 57th wanted out. Tradition was the word they liked to use…

Lawrence seen the opportunity and got out of murders row and the best five team district.  And their success across the sports board has done a complete 180.

This post has nothing to do with the OP, per say, but the OP sent me down a rabbit hole on this that I found interesting so please indulge me for a minute. Going solely by enrollment numbers you really should see more dominance out of JC and LC in the 15th than any other schools since they both have more boys enrolled (in some cases considerably more) than the other schools. Here's what I found reported by KHSAA for the 2022-23 school year by male enrollments in the 15th sorted by size-

1. JC- 469 boys
2. LC- 382
3. Magoffin- 340
4. Pike Central - 291
5. Floyd Central- 280
6. Martin- 277
7. Belfry- 259
8. Valley- 249
9. Pburg- 246
10. ER- 218
11. BL- 200
12. Pikeville- 163
13. Paintsville- 117
14. Phelps- 73

The fact that Phelps fields a football team every year is astonishing to me with this kind of enrollment numbers. JC has 6.42 boys for every 1 boy at Phelps. Also, the fact that Pikeville and Paintsville do so well in Baseball and Basketball every year as the 2nd and 3rd smallest schools in the region is also extremely impressive after looking at these numbers at the top.

That's what I was going to say, may not have dominated the entire region per se but they've owned the 58th since they came over.

Geographically it makes the most sense to move LC to the 57th, bring Magoffin over to the 58th and that was the proposal years back but I reckon the powers that be in the 57th didn't want Lawrence Co in the 57th due to baseball, then needless to say politics played a role and promises were made, certain people fell for them hook line and sinker, and said promises were broken after everything was agreed upon.

Feltner has won multiple regional titles. 3 off the top of my head but could be more.
