Who's Hot?
Good question because there are some really hot teams in the region a few to mention are Paintsville, Shelby Valley, East Ridge, Allen Central, and Pikeville. If I had to choose one it would have to be Shelby Valley. They've been very poised over the past two weeks going from Louisville to New York City and still coming out with some big wins.

Whos's Hot (Players)?
Elisha Justice
Aaron Crum
Wes Akers
Landon Slone

Who's Not?
There are numerous teams that are struggling right now like Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne, South Floyd, Magoffin County, Sheldon Clark, Lawrence County, and Johnson Central. If I had to choose who is not hot at all is South Floyd. They cannot seem to find a good night when playing against average teams.

Who is poised for a mid-season push?
I really believe that Allen Central will be a very scary team come February. The Crowder brothers, Crum, and Hammonds are a load for anyone in the region to deal with. Johnny Martin has done a great job with this years team and I really think that they could cause some damage in district and region tourney's.

Who will turn things around?
I think Prestonsburg will be the team to turn things around. They have too much talent in there starting five to not make some sort of push. Burchett and Tackett will have to step up tremendously to help the Blackcats become a solid team and for them to become any type of contender in district & region.

Biggest Surprise?
Its got to be the East Ridge Warriors. They haven't played outstanding teams but they still beat average teams that others fail to win against. I don't think that East Ridge will continue to do this but they have some good talent but its going to be hard for them to get into the regional tournament this season with having to knock off Pikeville or Shelby Valley.

Biggest Disappointment?
I'd have to go with Betsy Layne. Alot of people including myself thought that they would be a very good team but they struggle alot and are having trouble with players being ineligible. Maybe its the new coach but the Bobcats have not met everyones expectations. I don't think that the Bobcats can make any type of push this season if they don't get Newman back.

I do have one big surprise and that was Taylor Newsome. He was doing a fantastic job down low until his injury.

Shelby Valley better than expected probably do to Booher's coaching.

Pikeville you will be okay I think in spite of your coaches.
Belfry you could be the surprise by years end.
East Ridge cant escape the ghost of the RR... ER is doing a good job.
J. Martin at AC is the best Crum can really shoot it!
Roger Harless is doing well with the talent he has at SC.
Clay has Phelps rolling again especially in WV.
Johnson Central you will be okay sometime.
Prestonsburg has a good shooter in hall.
South Floyd is a year or two away.
Betsy Layne you have a good coach.
