Travis Perry Transfers To Ole Miss
#31
Wish Perry the best but don't see him getting any more minutes at Ole Miss than he would have at UK.

Plany guy's right. KY jersey doesn't mean shit anymore !!!  What's next? Trent Noah to Tennessee?

Of course you are wrong and everyone on here knows it, but if you were right you wouldn't be making the point you think you are making because it would be Cal's fault for sucking for years and losing to St Peter's and Oakland.

Ask my BFF, Plant Guy, who's wrong.  Jack Givens would have never transferred to Ole Miss. Even Tim Stephens would have never even given a thought to transfer to Ole Miss. Kentucky is not the Kentucky of my youth. Portals suck ass.

"James Lee is leaving Kentucky for Ole Miss." You would have never heard that in a billion years. Plant Guy is spot on about the jersey not meaning what it once did. Btw, I'm not upset that the kid proved Plant Guy to be correct. It is what is is... a new day and a new landscape in college BBall.

As my brother points out to me wayyyy too often……..you are a person of the times you live in. If the portal and NIL was a thing in the 70s and 80s, guys like Tim Stephens, Leroy Byrd, hey even James Lee or better, would have been definite possibilities to enter the portal. While I do think the UK jersey does still mean something, especially in attracting players initially, it’s those guys on the greenbacks that hold the most sway in determining where a player is gonna wind up.

LOL they were stars who played 30+ minutes, not relegated to the end of the bench. Amazing you don't understand the difference. The name means so much that a bunch of people better than Perry came in and took all his minutes.

This was my thought as well. He wants athletic guards that are dogs defensively. He did have Sean Pedulla this year who somewhat fits the Travis Perry mold of being a smaller, shot first guard. However, Pedulla had already played 3 years, 2700+ minutes, and 1200+ points at Virginia Tech before coming to Ole Miss. He was already a finished product. Perry is going to have to fight for his minutes. Of course, his defense has to get better but for me the biggest area he needs to improve is just knocking down wide-open shots. If he can go from being a 32% 3-point shooter to a 40%+ 3-pointer he will get minutes regardless of whether his defense improves.

Washington had made Reece Potter a substantial offer and UNC Coach Hubert Davis made Potter a priority

But Potter grew up a massive UK fan and bled Blue so now he is a Cat

Potter played 17 minutes a game at the mid major level scoring 6 pts. a game.  How many minutes does he get in Lexington?

Definitely a role player IMO, but looks like a late bloomer with upside.

I have to disagree with you, This young man will never be in full bloom.

I said role player lol, that's not a high bar at all. No doubt you very well could be right, but he's a 7-1 or 2 guy who has shot the ball better in his college career than Perry, Noah, Chandler even from 3 and some others on last year's and this year's UK roster. I'll take him with low expectations...

In the UK/Ole Miss game, we were without Butler and Pedulla started the game guarding Oweh (though they did switch almost everything). We started out with Oweh on Pedulla as well.

Once both were in, Pedulla did end up switching onto Perry but Oweh stayed on Pedulla.

I know it's not really fair to compare a freshman Perry to a senior Pedulla and that this is a pretty limited sample, but the expectations for two players listed at basically the same height and weight seemed pretty different. Seeing everyone standing side by side, I'd guess that Pedulla was underlisted, Perry was overlisted, or both.

If Perry turns into Pedulla, there'll be lots of happy Ole Miss fans and lots of angry Kentucky fans, especially after losses.
