The Cats and the Vols go it in round 3 this season with a trip to the elite 8 for the winner. The game is in Indy on Friday night with a tip time of 7:39pm and is on TBS/Tru. Go Cats!!

Sure hard to beat a team 3 times in a row…

I like our chances but everyone knows how hard it is to beat a team 3 times. Hopefully we have their number this year.

In a poll on a Vol message board, a lot of Vol fans(about 62%) were saying that they would prefer Illinois as an opponent, rather than UK. Many Big Orange fans think KY is a very bad matchup for their team.

I'm not convinced that Kentucky wins, but I like our chances going into this one more than I liked our chances going into the Illinois game.

Barnes let Pope dictate how the game would be played for large portions of each of the earlier meetings. History says that if Barnes comes into an NCAA Tournament game with a Chessmaster game plan, he's somehow stumbled upon it.

Think we match-up with them well about as well as we do with any team remaining (not named BYU). With a healthy Butler and Robinson, the seeds are probably flipped and we're a 4.5 to 5.5 point favorite, but that obviously isn't the case.

Kentucky may lose, but if so, it's most likely due to injuries, an off-night shooting, and/or foul trouble, not because we were unprepared or outcoached.

Would love to make it three in a row over Tennessee but regardless of the outcone, I won't be disappointed in UK's year.

Anyone who's disappointed or upset in the season they've had needs to make an appointment with my nut doctor.

Cats have to hit 3s. In both of the first two games we hit twelve 3s. If we hit 10+ I think we have a really good chance to win this game, but if we hit 8 or below Tennessee has a good chance of beating us. Having a healthy Andrew Carr will help us because in the first two matchups the one guy that really worried me was Milicic. We have to limit Milicic and Lanier.

This isn't the worst draw in the world for us, but I would absolutely hate to end this season with a loss to Rick Barnes and Tennesse. It would be one of those "we won a couple of battles but ultimately lost the war" this season.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

Want an OSH KY/TN stat that will rock your basketball world???

Since the Ole Miss game (you know, the one where we were simply awful) :

Ky is the  22nd best offensive team  ; TN is  the 14th best offensive team

TN is is the 29th best defensive team  ;  KY is the 11th best defensive team .

Upside down world the last six weeks , or so.

Some of the worst basketball I've ever seen by a KY team. Not ready to play this game. Tennessee dictated the play from the start. Pope overmatched by Rick Barnes. Never thought I'd utter those words.

^^^The dumb take contest has been deemed closed with one unbeatable entry.

In the span of one short year, OSH has gone from blaming the players for Cal crapping out for the hundredth straight year to blaming the first-year coach who just made it to the Sweet 16 for the first time in ages. Incredible. No, not really.

This was simply a case of a team with more talent beating a team with lesser talent. If anything, it showed what a capable coach Pope is to have coaxed two wins against a much more talented opponent.
