This year - by far.
I saw Breathitt lose at Harlan last year. They were very beatable the night I saw them.

Breathitt beating Hazard this year was the bigger upset. I also think everyone except Hazard knew the Dawgs didn’t have it wrapped up.

I'd have to agree that Breathitt beating Hazard this year. Bulldogs were the prohibitive favorite all season, top 5-10 ranked team in the state all season, beat Breathitt 4 times already, they had everything going for them, just couldn't get the one that mattered. Was really looking forward to seeing them play at Rupp but now looking forward to seeing Sperry play in a few weeks.
I said it during the season, this was one of, if not Big Al's best team he's had, this was their best chance to win region.

I can appreciate your alls input. I am not sure though. People forget how much Perry struggled last year, didn’t beat hazard, Knott or Breathitt in regular season, lost Rydge halfway through, just wasn’t a very good team , Breathitt was the clear 2 team last year, this year Breathitt was clear 2 also but them beating hazard in the ship wasn’t shocking to me. I think Perry winning it last year was more improbable than Breathitt this year. Just my opinion. Have a blessed day everyone.

Perry winning last year was the bigger upset than this season. Perry was nowhere near one of the teams picked to win it. Breathitt was evenly matched with Hazard this year even though they lost to Hazard 4 times. Breathitt was in all games except maybe the first one.

This is only my opinion but I think if Sperry had not played on a sprained ankle last year that the Bobcats would have defeated Perry in the championship game. He hobbled through the semis to beat Hazard but he was obviously limping and didn’t have the hops he normally had in that title game. It was only a 7 point difference in the end. A 100% Sperry would have made the difference.

So not sure how much more he could do, but you never know I guess

Breathitt looked strong in the first two rounds of the regional tournament last year. They looked like a unit. But when they reached the championship game , they seemed like a completely different team. Their ball movement was poor , and their defense struggled. Slone & Castle scored their normal numbers but hurt Breathitt the most with their dominance on the boards. Trayten Woods had a big night , dropping 23 points. I feel like last year’s loss put some fire in their bellies for this regional tournament. They played like a team that simply refused to lose !

This year for sure, Hazard was top 5-10 all year and they blew it. Breathitt didn’t have no trouble with anyone else in the 14th hardly. When you have Austin Sperry it’s easy to pull an upset especially after getting beat 4 times in regular season.
