#1
Final from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.

More on a bit of a chaotic finish to follow shortly.

The Warhawks will meet the winner of Region 3 in their first round match-up in Rupp Arena on Thursday, March 27th.

A heck of game between the state's #2 and #3 ranked teams. The 11th is probably the toughest region in the state this season a tough loss for the Broncos but they had a great season as they finished 25-5 and lost to the #2 ranked team in the state twice the #1 ranked team and the #5 ranked team and a good Henry Clay team. Best of luck to Great Crossing at the state in two weeks.

This one was pretty tight until Great Crossing hit a big run with about 1:50 remaining in the third quarter.

Fast forward, and Great Crossing led 54-45 and had possession of the ball with 2:49 remaining and Douglass began to foul. Then business picked up.

Great Crossing took a three that led to a Broncos fast break that GC poked away on a back-tap, momentarily regaining possession only for Douglass to win a loose ball scrum and get it right back. GC didn't convert a three and put the Warhawks back on the line.

After fouling again, Douglass would make a three to cut it to 7 with roughly 2:35 remaining. They'd keep playing the foul game and cut it to 6 with 1:54 left. Great Crossing was able to hold the ball until getting fouled with 1:27 remaining. They made 1 of 2 before the Broncos answered with a lay-up to make it 57-52 with 1:14 left.

After a Great Crossing turnover, Douglass banked in a deep transition three to make it 57-55 with :56 left. At this point, what looked to be a pretty safe lead had evaporated and Great Crossing was inbounding against Douglass' pressure as the Broncos had all the momentum. They stole the inbound and were in a good position to score but couldn't finish over Vince Dawson and Malachi Moreno swooped in to get a huge rebound to end that threat.

Frederick Douglass had another shot, trailing by 2 with possession and roughly 30 seconds to go. They were able to get dribble penetration that was set up by an elevator screen at the top of the key and had what would have been a great look at a layup against anyone else, but Moreno made a good rotation down to force a kick-out. Douglass had a pretty good look a three that would have given them the lead, but it missed. Great Crossing got the rebound and absorbed the foul with 19 seconds remaining and made a pair of free throws to give us the final margin.
