16th region now has concluded. Here are some key take aways from the 8 regional teams.
* Ashland was always a step ahead of all other teams. They have played a great schedule, and it shows. Loaded team with many kids returning. Woods is a warrior to overcome her obstacles. Gabby Karley is the real deal. Without her this team isnt the same.
* Russell did surprise some. They won lots of games with losing a ton of talent. They always find a way to overcome and win. Key players returning in Darnell and Gabby !
* Menifee had a good year. They were very fun to watch. They had a chance to be in the finals had they hit fts down the stretch. Love Baker and #12s game, tough kid. Returning 2 key players but losing a ton!
* Boyd Co did what Boyd does and play hard. They did some good stuff considering. 3 starters are gone from a team that will bring back a talented back court. Groves and Smith was VERY solid as 7th graders.
* Rowan Co I was impressed with. Matt does a good job. They had some big wins and played with nearly all the teams. The future is bright with Ford returning. Look for them to be good for years.
* Raceland again returned to the region. No wins against any top region teams showed against Ashland in the region. They have lots returning for next year also player of the year candidate Maynard. We'll see how it unfolds.
* Morgan never really got going this year with lot of injuries. They have a hard-working group, and a great Coach look for them to rebound.
Way early top 3 teams next year.

Ashland is the cream of the crop as long as Coach Davis is in place. I'm impressed with her program and what she does. I also love the fact that she plays a demanding out of the region schedule. She does not chase easy wins.

Ashland, Boyd Co., Russell have dominated for 15 years . These three been to State every year since 2011. Boyd Co 5 times (Pete Fraley), Ashland six times ( Bill Bradley 4, Stacy Davis 2), Russell 4 (Mandy Layne) . Could be same three next year, but Raceland and Rowan Co. will be really good too. and possibly Morgan Co.
