Open Job 2025 Off-Season

(03-19-2025, 04:49 PM)-STAT- Wrote: According to a report I seen from a credible reporter that covers the 9th region, Cooper High School allegedly asked head coach Tim Sullivan to re-sign at seasons end due to issues w/ "team culture" per the report.

The thing is, Cooper won the 9th region tournament last night as they defeated Lloyd Memorial. So the season for Cooper will end at Rupp Arena, so it will be interesting to see if the administration back tracks, or if they stick to their guns and still want him to step down. Congrats to Cooper tho on keeping your season, and possibly your coaches job living to fight another day.
This is TRUE, on Jan. 21 2025 he was told to resign at seasons end, or his contract would not be renewed.

Let go? Who replaces him that can do better? I think he runs a great program, with what he has.
What has he done in his 3 years?
1 District title that he barely won. Come on now

Just sit back and wait.

Its happening. Be a new leader in Knott and hopefully he can treat the kids better

Sounds like an upset parent. Treat kids better??? I've watched Huff, holding kids accountable and coaching them hard isn't treating them bad.
Sounds like you might be one the ones from his side and wanting him to stay.

Going down the bench and saying F you to all his players and calling them all SOB in the locker room. Does that really sound like a good leader and that he is holding them accountable. Would that not be treating the kids bad?? Letting players and himself walk off the floor before getting runner up district awards. Principal having to go into the locker room and make them come out.

Im just stating my opinion. Knott needs a new coach. They will get one. Wait and see

Not on his side and have no dog in the fight. Actually, never been to a Knott County game. Just watched live streams of his coaching since he began at Prestonsburg. If what you're saying is true, then that's a different story. But to have that information you must be a parent or close to the program. But outside of you I have never heard anything negative about Huff. 9 times out of 10 when people want rid of good coaches, it's due to playing time. Someone with connections has a kid not getting the playing time they think they should get. Instead of seeing what the kid can do to get more time, it's easier to blame the coach and get a new one. The good programs in the 14th and 15th doesn't tolerate these threats. The bad ones that never compete for a regional title allows these things to replace their coaches every 2-3 years.

The entire county has overinflated sense of what their program is. Huff has done an exceptional job with what he has. Played Hazard and Breathitt both in very close games…with a less talented roster. He has improved the skill set of every player on this team and it’s noticeable. Some athletes who weren’t basketball players got better each game.

Knott has had some past success but look at the big picture and you’ll find they aren’t the basketball powerhouse that a lot of the fans seem to act like.

Where Knott was heading prior to Huff, compared to where they are now..... they should leave him alone.
2 years prior to Huff
Season: 26-25, Region: 19-9, District: 8-4

3 Seasons with Huff
Season: 56-29, Region: 39-19, District: 20-5

Exactly right. Like I said, Knott had a good run with some great talent. Some local, some not. The fan base remembers that but forget all the years of mediocrity. Knott is much closer to a middle of the road 14th region team historically. Huff has preformed above his talent level each season imo.

If Knott gets rid of Huff then they’re absolutely insane. Outside of a couple of players, most kids that were good at basketball left and went elsewhere. Huff has built that program in a positive direction. Is he a tough, hard-nosed coach? Absolutely. Do kids need that today? Absolutely. Too many sissies wanna act like ball players but cry when the coach says a bad word.

Leave the dude alone and let him build.

I completely agree, he is a great young head coach who definitely could've turned Pburg around if he had the time. Kids now a days are coddled, can't handle the heat, then the parents get involved and that's when a new coaching search begins shortly thereafter.

Probably should put Cooper on the list, at least with a ? beside it. Public knowledge that the principal isnt having the coach back next season.

Why not just fire the principal?  They are about dime a dozen any way.  A lot harder to find a good quality coach.

Superintendent has already backed the principal on this issue.
