Just got beat by a better basketball team. Really not much else to say....But, I'll say it anyway. The officiating was horrendous, the multiple stops of action to watch TV monitors. Made me kinda thankful for the technical difficulties near the end. I could almost hear Granny Bear saying a few choice words to her TV throughout this game. The Cats were very VERY sloppy in this one. Went from about 7:30 in the first half until into the second with just 1 FG . Committed 9 turnovers in that same span. Auburn is really good but the Cats' performance was pretty bad. They have regressed since earlier in the season. Injuries have been a major reason for that regression, obviously. Bottomline, though, Auburn just has better basketball players and a slimy but pretty darn good basketball coach. It's hard, but you just have to tip your cap.
It's better to laugh than cry, I always say. So, to that end, here's something I read on a UK board that made me laugh out loud. It has nothing to do with the game today, per se. Maybe you'll find it funny, too.
One guy wrote: "Pope's style is to stay under control and take the high road. Problem is, nice guys finish last. "
Another dude responded: " Joker Phelps proved that. I hope Pope isn't our basketball's Joker Phelps."
In response to this, someone else wrote: "Who is Joker Phelps?"
Another guy, in response, added: "Michael Phelps younger idiot brother that can't swim. Almost drowns when he gets in the pool."
Was I wrong to laugh at that?

Worse than the loss is finding our Jaxon Robinson is out for the rest of the season. Will have season ending surgery.

Hat's off to Auburn they're just the better team. We held potential player of the year Broome to under 10 points and they still beat us by 16. No wonder Auburn is overall #1 and a favorite to cut the nets down in April.

The Robinson news will cost us at least one seed line(not that it matters much over the long haul).
We'll probably be a 4 (5, at worst).
If we dropped to a 5 seed, would the Committee dare match us up with Arkansas... ?
Oh wait .....
South Carolina 72 Hogs 53 (It was 50-20 , at one point)

This is pretty weird. I don't know if I've ever seen this in all the years of watching UK BB. At the start of the second half, UK had six(6) turnovers before they took even one(1) shot!!! Is that not weird?!?
Also went about 11 minutes between field goals from about 7 and a half minutes to go until halftime til around 3 and half minutes gone in the second half. Pretty bad basketball. Never seemed focused. I wonder if they knew it was the end of the road for Jax and that affected their mindset and focus???

There are a few teams that can defend like Auburn (Houston, St. John's, Iowa State), and there a few teams that can score like Auburn (Kentucky, Alabama); but I haven't seen a team that can score and defend like Auburn.
I'd take them over the field right now because the two teams most likely to beat them (Houston and Duke) have some flaws and won't see them until the Final Four. Aside from a meeting with one of those (where Duke gets Duke calls or where Houston's D pitches a shutout and plays well enough on offense to win), it's going to take the combination of both Auburn playing bad and another team playing really well to knock them off.
All of that to say that I'm not shocked or worried by this result and hope that we stay out of their bracket (plenty of projections have us ending up in the same region, which would be especially terrible if we were a 4 seed).

We can't score like Auburn, Cacti. Not now. The injuries, and resulting loss of continuity and cohesion and minus our best offensive talent, we are not the same team we were when we played Alabama and Alabama. And defensively, we are one of the worst UK has ever had. No need to worry about Auburn again. Let's just get by Oakland, St. Peters, or Grand Canyon and call the season a win.

Kentucky just got their ass whipped, simple as that. Auburn is just a great team from top to bottom.
