Ashland 96 Boyd County 65
#1
Final from Ashland and the 64th Championship. This from midway through the 2nd quarter on was totally dominated by the Tomcats. Zander Carter had a heck of a game as he in the 2nd quarter went over the 3000-point mark for his career.

This was a total beatdown. Ashland did whatever they wanted on offense seemed like.

I watched from mytown and it was a total domination. From tip to the horn. Like I said. Defense and who shoots it well. APB did that tonight.

Fanman. I hope you are right.

Did you get an autograph or a picture with your man crush? Or did you just hide in the bleachers. Lol

APB starters shot the ball well. Neel coming off bench is a game changer. His pace and IQ change the floor. APB seemed to want the game more, they came out aggressive on defense.
Boyd shot the ball decent, better than most teams but not their usual percentage. It didn’t seem like their ball handling was great. When they play in morehead it will be a totally different game.

Who was out injured for Ashland they only played 6 players until the last half of the 4th quarter.

Davis and Hughes didn’t dress. No idea if they make it back for region.

That makes the win tonight even more impressive for the Tomcats.

Missed this one big time.

Tomcats make a statement heading into the region.

Best team in 16th region in all aspects,  coaches, players, we can give the nod to The County like senior advisor says they have great facilities.  With this said it don’t mean A-Town will win.

I said in an earlier thread that no outcome would surprise me when these two teams play. I was wrong. The first game was a blowout but it felt different. In that game Boyd’s body language told us that they were just going through the motions. In this game the Lions kept competing and played a good game. It made no difference. Anything can happen and I respect coach Anderson so much…but…the Tomcats are the best team in the region. On a given night could they lose? Of course, but if they play their best against any other team in the regions’s best they will win. But to be honest, the chance of the best team getting upset is what makes March fun and it’s why we describe it as Madness. I hope the upset thing stays in check but there are a lot of fans, students, players, and coaches all over the 16th that hope differently. Should be a fun tournament.

Coach A looked even more disconnected with his team than usual. Looked like the assistants did more coaching than he did. I know he's never quite Dan Hurley on the sidelines, but last night it was noticeably bad IMO.

Not much chirping going on in here!!!!!

Chirping? You mean like you did when APB got handled at home a few weeks ago? You went silent for days!! LOL. APB looked like they wanted to win the game more so than BC in all aspect of THIS game. Not the last game. I am sure we will see a 4th game at MSU.

I do think the tone is set by the coaching staff. Bonner looks like a 6th man in the game when he is on the sideline. Very involved and very active and very vocal. Looks like he wants to win. I do think that is passed on to the players and shows that he is coaching with everything in him. That inspires players.

BC coaching staff is the polar opposite of that. That will always be the knock on the BC staff, and I would agree. I would like to see more out of the staff as you see like other coaches in the Region.

Again, I do think APB is not a clear cut, automatic winner, or some super team by no means. They shot the ball well, played great D. The foul counts were about the same, rebounds as well, and I think the assist count was close. BC turned it over a lot more due to the trapping. That worked and I am sure adjustments will be made. IF, APB and BC make it to the regional final. Well, it should be another good game. I think BC will win the region. BC has won the District the last 2-3 times. Hopefully, Fanman is right. Who wins the District the other will win the Region.

I was completely wrong. I think I did pick Ashland to win but only by 3 and maybe in OT. Great game by the Tomcats. Really did not see a blowout coming. That game sends a message to the rest of that region.

Was Boyd missing any players?

BC starting PG has an injury he is trying to come back from and played like 2 minutes in this game. 6th man tore his ACL. So yes, BC has a starter and kid who logged meaningful minutes and was part of the rotation. I know Davis and Hughes didn't play this game, but Hughes didn't even play in the last game that I even remember. Davis has been battling his injury as well, so he really hasn't been present. APB has all their starters and 6th man.

No excuses. BC didn't play well as a whole and turned the ball over a lot. APB played one of their best games. Just a combination that will get your butt kicked.

Hughes played in the first blow out and had a couple blocks so defensively he was a factor. Once again Ashland wins as they’ve done historically.

past two season

BC 3-1 vs APB
APB 1-2 vs BC

BC 4-3 vs APB past two seasons.

Hughes first game vs BC had 2pts and 1 reb and second game he did not play per KHSAA website.
Davis did not play first game and had 0 pts and 2 reb second game.

Bonner did really sub much in any of the games outside of the starting 5 in the first two meetings. Neel of course did not play due to the recruitment issues and video.

I guess with those post THE COUNY is good with moral victories.  BC regional title in 2018 with best player from Ohio.  And you guessed it been all A-Town since with Ky finest players in the 16th.

Finest players money can buy! It was nice to see APB play two kids who actually have went to school there.

Wonder why no APB kid that is in their feeder system rarely plays in the program!?

Since they develop kids so well! Haha
Oh that’s right they don’t. The pluck from others coaches in the area! APB may have won 1. The rest have been multiple players from other schools. Over 20 kids in the past 3-4 years. I’m hearing parents in the school have been throwing a fit about this very issue. You know. Actual Ashland kids and parents who live in the district.

Nah that only happens with BC dads who once sit on benches and coach middle schools and then try to overthrow the current coach and they can’t get that done. So they do a recording and getting JM fired with the help of senior advisor to gov.

They are now at Ashland. Well all three of the daddies you are talking about. Smith Neel and Carter. Haha that is exactly what you have at APB all failed attempts to overthrow their last school coaches after they all coached. Throw you in the mix and your have a circus in the stands.

You know the only thing that saves the county from an early exit in the regional tournament is being on the opposite sides of your big brother.

The only thing that keeps Ashland from being banned is the khsaa for all the recruiting violations. Haha
