I mentioned this on another thread, but has anyone noticed that the boys Sweet 16 isn’t going to be played until March 26-29? The girls are playing at Rupp March 12-15, then the next weekend Rupp is hosting an NCAA tournament round. I think the latest boys regions are going to be over by March 11th, some even by the 8th, so boys region winners would have a 2 1/2 to three week layoff between games. It’ll be the same for everyone, but that seems crazy to me.

Is the Yum Center booked that week? Much, much nicer facility. And the state tournament used to be in Louisville full time, then rotated between Lex and the Ville. Of course, all the logistics of that would have to have been addressed way before now.

Would love to see Sweet 16 alternate between Lexington and Louisville.

I believe it's in Lexington full time now becasue all the KHSAA staff all live in Lexington, and the logistics are a whole lot simpler. I'm sure it'd cost a fourtune to house all the KHSAA Staff for 10 nights and feed them in louisville. Just my guess, I may be crazy but all the private schools, especially in the girls tournament has attendance for those private school games down, maybe I'm completely wrong? I'm sure someone will tell me.
I heard folks speculating about the future and goign to a sectional tournament and only 8 boys teams and 8 girls teams makingit to sweet 16 and playing alternating boy girl games in a single sweet 16 with both championships being played on Saturday, one mid day, the other at night. Just a group of folks speculating if it'd work, and what it'd do to the traditional sweet 16.

The day the State Tournament moves to Louisville or goes the route of classes, is the day I stop going and I've been 28 years in a row, 29 lord willing next month.
