Chalk up another win for the good guys. Gavin Newsom has a choice. He can either begin finding some common ground with the Trump administration, or he can kiss he chances of ever becoming president good-bye. California is still blue but the GOP has momentum. Accommodation with Trump policies that Newsom cannot successfully challenge could slow GOP gains in the state to maintain his political viability nationally, but there is not much room for error.
