Could Tug Valley win the 15th region?
#1
Saw on facebook that someone said that Tug could win the 15th region, it had 150 comments, just curious if anyone thinks that.

No.

Could they? Yes. Would they be the favorite? No. I'd throw them in there with Lawrence, Betsy Layne, Shelby Valley. They lost on their home floor to Phelps. Could anyone realistically see Phelps beating JC, Paintsville, Martin County, or Pikeville? Tug Valley would be at best the 5th best team in the 15th region. None of their players would be top 5 players in the region.

Half of Tuggy Valley has been playing in Inez the last several years. So a big fat no would be my answer.

Probably not, but I would imagine if Tug Valley's coach Rabbit Thompson decided to coach any school in the 15th Region, they'd be a threat to win it.

Possibly

I’m not super familiar with West Virginia sports but I have seen that TV is the front runner to win 1a in WV but they they wouldn’t be a top team in probably the worst region in our state. That just seems crazy to me lol

Phelps beat them on their home court. Phelps is borderline top 10 team in the region

Was he ever offered the Belfry job? If so could have that program around!

To my knowledge no. He probably could have turned it around simply because he would have had some of his players follow him. Perry's issue was he had zero players follow him and the talent simply wasn't there when he arrived. If not for the transfers Belfry got in, I say this in all seriousness, I don't think they would have won a game. As bad as they are this year, last year they were way worse. Pike Central beat them by 68 and Betsy Layne beat them by 38 in the final 2 games of the season a year ago. And unless Belfry gets some of the football guys out who used to play, or someone makes a huge leap in their game, or gets a few big time transfers next year may be the worst Belfry team we've ever seen. Estridge, Loomis, and Dials won't be there. Doesn't matter who the coach is if the talent isn't there.

I saw that post. I think they said Phelps beat them by 2 and then they beat Phelps by 19 at the Hatfield McCoy Shootout over the weekend. A 4A team that beat Martin County at the shootout by 16, Tug Valley beat by 14 last night. Also saw a screenshot on that post showing Marin County’s coach refusing to play them at the Shootout?

Yes they could but wouldn’t be favorites. However, it appears they are playing some great basketball at the moment. I know they played a preseason game at MC without 3 starters and it was a very close game if I’m not mistaken.
