NOAH's ARC !!!
#1
Being a 50+ year veteran watcher 13th region basketball, I am very biased towards the kids in my area. I've gotten to watch those beautiful arcing Trent Noah jumpers for several years at Corbin, the Arena, and elsewhere around the area. Last year, at Corbin,  I was standing just a few feet from the Harlan County bench. The Bears had gotten out to a 16- point first half lead but the Hounds staged a furious comeback to take a two-point lead with two minutes remaining. The Bears called time out and, although I couldn't hear what was being said, I KNEW what was being said. The Coach looked at Trent and the youngster nodded. I knew what the coach had told him--- "Go win the game."  Trent came out the timeout and the ball barely left his hands over the final two minutes. He scored ten points in that span to close out the game.

The kid's a winner. I have never seen him berate an official or show an opposing player in all the games I've watched.  Whether his team is up twenty or down twenty, he just keeps his head down and plays ball. Has great work ethic, off the charts basketball IQ, well spoken, genuinely beautiful youngster. One of most sincere and sweetest kids I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with.

Here's Trent after last night's win over UT, being interviewed by host of the Field of 68 podcast, Jeff Goodman .

Thing about Noah is that he shows exactly who he is; no hypocrisy.
If you take away all his talent, he is STILL a wonderful ambassador of southeastern Kentucky.

What did the folks of Harlan County think about him when he spent the summer playing with NL?

Disappointed. But NOT in Noah. He and Reed had played AAU together for years. Most everyone thought he should do whatever he could to raise his profile.

Certainly understandable. I would have been terribly disappointed had he been a Corbin kid and transferred from the Redhounds. Can you imagine how I felt when we lost Billy Hicks, and then Rick Jones, to Scott County ???   I always felt Trent probably thought it was in his best interest to increase his profile around the nation by sharing the limelight with Reed.  I was somewhat surprised he would consider the move from HC to NL, but can't say I blame him for testing the waters and wanting to play with Reed. It probably benefitted him and I understand his thinking, if that was the case.   I'm not surprised and, in fact, I'm happy he ended up back at home in Harlan County. He made the right decision, in my opinion , by returning home.
