High School Transfers?
#1
Can’t believe no one has posted about it yet. What is everyone’s opinion on the bill that has been introduced to legislature?

A student who is enrolled in grades nine (9) through twelve (12), participates in a varsity contest in any interscholastic sport at a member school following enrollment in grade nine (9), and then transfers to another member school shall be eligible to participate in varsity contests in any interscholastic sport at the new member school for the first time the student makes a transfer. Any further transfers of the student shall be subject to the transfer rules or bylaws adopted by the state board or any agency designated by the state board to manage interscholastic athletics.”

Why not. that's pretty much the way it is currently, except when KHSAA wants to pull a power play.  At least this levels the playing field.

About time they done this. Been saying they should do this for years.
#4
Should have already been done. I see nothing wrong with kids transferring. Let them go where they are happy. Adults should not be the ones to tell them where they can and can't play
#5
Yeah, it's basically something that goes on now a day anyway. KHSAA is so delusional tho that they'll still take credit for making this happen.

ATOWN!!!! The Boyd/Russell faithful will be disappointed

Good. Now we won’t have to make friends with realtors and property owners trying to find addresses.

My Kentucky Civics class skills are lacking but the time frame for getting these types of things passed doesn't exactly move at warp speed. Not sure anyone will feel the effects of change this basketball season....as always, I may be wrong.

Still several that transferred to Pineville still not eligible? Always seems so random with the decisions.

i82much correct me if I am wrong. This has been introduced before not too long ago and it didn't pass then. If anyone wants to see how great this bill would be. Just look at WV. It killed WV sports. A lot of news on it if you want to research it. Football games were 55-0 at halftime. 80 points scored on high school teams due to teams loading up.

Yes, that is great logic. let kids make the decisions. Keep the adults out of it!!

Let's have 14–18-year-old run for office and run the country. Seem logical! LOL.

**For the people in the back. KIDS CAN TRANSFER ALL THEY WANT. THEY JUST HAVE TO MOVE AND DO IT BY THE CURRENT RULE AND NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU**

I see nothing wrong with a kid transferring. I do have a problem with recruiting kids in HIGH SCHOOL.

Love it. Hope it passes!

Not sure Hoopfan, I believe something similar may have been tabled before but maybe I'm just remembering past discussion on here??

Its one of those things where (as the case in WV) the first year or two of the law passing, talent will be VERY unbalanced across the state bc everyone will be transferring, a lot to the same schools.

While I don't necessarily disagree with the proposed rule/law, that period of transition will be Wild Wild West.

Some people in the 15th region would support this. Black cats all the way

Going to be interesting to see how coaches play this. Do they dress their freshman and try to get them 1 varsity time (therefore starting this clock) or do they not, so that said player could possible transfer back later.

I don't see that coming into play. if the kid is good enough, play him.  May leave and never come back anyway, use him while you have him.

Only adults who should have a say so in the kids transferring is the parents. Which I am sure you knew what I meant. Why does it matter if they switch schools and play elsewhere. Who does it benefit to tell them they must sit a year out, other than the adults making the decision who get to pick and choose what kids to rule eligible or not.
