Johnson Central 78 Paintsville 64
#1
JC gets revenge for their earlier loss to Paintsville. In the first game Paintsville was the aggressor and worked really hard to get the ball down low to Woods and Cole. The difference in this game was JC was the aggressor driving to the basket while Paintsville settled for a lot of jump shots. Austin Slone and Shepherd had huge games for the Golden Eagles. Slone also had one of the best dunks in JC history to seal the victory in the 4th quarter.

Wow at this score. Is JC the #1 team in the 15th now? If the tournament was played today then I’d probably put my money on them. They’re hot right now winning 6 in a row.

Unfortunately, wasn't able to go last night as I've been under the weather the last few days, and I know how hot it gets in that gym. I turned on the radio to hear that Paintsville made a 3 to tie it at 35 in the 3rd, then Central proceeded to go on a 10-0 run, and pretty much stayed that way the rest of the game.

Central is really starting to come along, playing better than anyone in the region right now, if they can knock off Martin Co in their next matchup, they'll have the drivers seat for the 1 seed in district tournament.

Even tho Paintsville didn't have the week they envisioned having, still have them up there as one of the best teams in the region as well. They've proven that, and proven they can beat Martin Co, and already got one on Central as well. I'm sure they're glad to get this week over with and move forward, but next week you got Magoffin & Martin back-to-back nights at home, then at Pikeville Thursday who is playing great right now, so another tough week for the Tigers upcoming.

Paintsville had the perfect gameplan in the first game, but I was surprised how passive they were offensively in this one. Other than Cole who was very aggressive getting to his spots they settled for a lot of jump shots. Woods basically stayed out of the paint the entire game and was a non-factor. Credit to JCs defense this go around because it was much more in your face and they forced several turnovers in the 3rd that started their big run.
