South Laurel 56 Corbin 35
#1
Final.

Congratulations South Laurel.

I'm surprised this score wasn't already posted.  I'm also surprised at the score!!  Corbin only scoring 35 for the entire game is shocking.

I saw OSH at the airport in Knoxville this morning. Said he was leaving the country and may never come back.

I doubt that he was alone.

Kinda feels like home court is a pretty big thing this year at least in this rivalry, Corbin by 14 at home, South by 21 at home - Wow!!

We were talking about in in the Corbin@South thread. I was the only one who correctly said that Jefferson Davis' team would win by double digits. One poster , who predicted Corbin was way too much for the Cardinals , even owes me a beverage. Corbin never plays well there and there is always some kind of shenanigans going on. I didn't bother to listen to the game because I knew what the outcome would be, just like I knew what the outcome of the Chiefs/Bills game would be in Kansas City last Sunday. One poster, "Hounds24," I believe, said it was the worst officiated game he had ever seen. Corbin, he said, was hit with technicals for having the audacity to look at the refs, while Davis' team was allowed to commit assault and battery.

It's always something in that den of iniquity they call a gym. Season before last was dunk-gate in South London. Refs seen chatting it up with some Laurel County groupies in some dark corner prior to coming out and hitting Corbin with four technicals and tossing Coach P from the game, even before the opening tip. Legend has it that the Corbin coach was tossed into the Laurel County jail for the night, before beginning his three game suspension for his awful crimes.

Last time I dared to cross over into the city limits of that rathole of a town(been about three years), I could hear Vicki Lawrence singing "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" in the deep recesses of my mind. On any given day there, another crooked judge slaps the crooked sheriff on the back with a smile and says, "Supper's waiting at home and I've got to get to it."

Having said all of that, apparently Akins was awful last night and Mabe was Mabe. After Steele's injury South was down to Mabe, Rawlings, and three court jesters dressed in black and white stripes. Apparently Jeff Davis threatened to do a Mike Tyson and bite the ear off an official if he didn't subscribe to the program and keep Corbin in check. So, you know, apparently there were the usual fun and frolics at the Davis Dog & Pony Show that plays there every year. Should surprise no one.. If the 13th region tourney was played there every year, South would win it every year. Like most London hillbillies & alcoholics, get them away from their "Southern Comfort" and they find it's a different world out there, one not to their liking.

Btw, unless Corbin's diaper dandies quit having long stretches where they wet the bed, they are gonna be a quick exit come tourney time. Corbin loses focus like a cheap camera, for stretches in games. Maybe that's the downside of youth. Maybe young Mr Ellis will be a showstopper upon his return to action in a few days. I'm favoring Bell County, moving forward. They are playing the best ball at the right time--- with just a few weeks til tourney time. They beat their county rivals by nearly 60 points last night. Go ahead and pencil them in the championship game.

I'm rooting for the Cats to win but a Calipari win in his Rupp homecoming would actually be one of the best things ever. The mental health facilities would fill with Big Blue clients Monday morning.

We will work out the logistics for the beverage at the Arena(best lemonade in the state). But that being said when Mabe started the game with a dunk and  Blocked Akins layup attempt Corbin fell apart and although I don't know the percentage the Corbin players traded their sneakers and became Brick Masons(built a fine outhouse made of bricks). The Technical was earned by the way--to much lip will do that. The 50th district outcomes depends on the officials--see the clowns in Williamsburg on the same night that let #1 from the burg throw a elbow that Dusty Rhodes would be proud of, but at this game the officiating had zero to do with the outcome(although I will say the same crew in the girls game definitely let the Corbin girls lay in some serious licks). Corbin settled for way to many contested jumpers and it showed.

If Corbin wilts after a dunk and a block, they have no business being anywhere near the Arena in March. Grow a pair , Redhounds!!!
