1994 Mountain Basketball Classic Report

Clay County started with Chris McKissic a talented point guard. Mark Jason Smith wing forward. Darell Hoskins a talented 10th grader who would score 125 points for 94-95-96 seasons in this tournament. M.C. Napier was led by Hurley Combs, Benji Combs and Rodney Thompson. Thomas Neace was a rugged inside player with scoring around the basket. Allen Central with Jason Martin, Jeremy Hall and Thomas Jenkins. Allen Central won the Region in March. They held their own in Quarter Final play at State vs. Fairdale. Hazard was led by Pete Combs and Jason Lindon as both of them made the Dippers All Mountain Team in April. John Micheal Grigsby was Honorable Mention All-State in 95. Shelby Valley had Nathan Berger talented point guard. David Bowling. Patrick Damron with good play the next season. Cumberland was led by Keith Slone and Thaddeus Jackson. Keith made Honorable Mention in 94 and Thaddeus Jackson made Honorable Mention in 95. South Floyd with Allan Joe Moore. Buckhorn with Gary Mullins who made Honorable Mention in 96 & 97 season. Semi-Final scoring Clay County 86 Allen Central 81. Shelby Valley 61 M.C. Napier 57. At the 3rd place game Jason Martin scored 30 vs Napier. Hurley Combs scored 34 points vs. Allen Central. Unsung heroes from this tournament were Chris Strathman South Floyd, Kelly Miller Clay County, William Stewart Shelby Valley and Phillip Patton Allen Central.
