Pulaski County at Highlands. Thoughts?

this will not be a very competitive game, Highlands by at least three scores again. Highlands needs to play a cleaner game than last week, too many unnecessary penalties that let Woodford hang around longer than they should have. Hopefully we get better officials this week, last game was bad.

Pulaski has to keep the game in front of them on defense (easier said than done against good teams) and control the clock with long methodical drives that have to end in points. I expect Pulaski to run a lot of heavy sets and not put the ball in the air to much in this one. With all that being said I still think it's a monumental task for these young Maroons to go into Highlands and come out with a victory but that's why they play the game on the field and not on paper. Highlands in a closer game than what the Bluebirds want heading into their last game of the year against Cooper.

Woodford county beat Pulaski what makes you think Pulaski county can play better against Highlands then Woodford?

If Pulaski county plans on running the ball they’re going right into the strength of Highlands defense, passing the ball is what kept Woodford game a little bit interesting because of Highlands pass defense ( and some questionable PI calls). I also thought Pulaski county’s pass defense looked very bad in the game I saw them play against Woodford County, which will be trouble against Highlands.

Woodfords receivers were a little quicker than highlands in my opinion. Regardless it’s easily the crutch of PCs defense, probably for both teams. Highlands is well rounded everywhere else.

I can easily see highlands being favored 4 scores at home or at Pulaski. PC has been underdogs in 4+ games this year and made a game out of every one of them. Biggest loss was 2 scores against Corbin, and that was without starting quarterback. 

I expect PC to come out swinging and make highlands earn it. Should be one of the better 5A games this week, hopefully.

Pulaski County is definitely much improved this season. They've played a tough schedule and hung in there against some good teams: Beechwood, Corbin, Woodford County and Madison Central. They haven't, however managed to beat any of those good teams. They have just 2 wins over teams with winning records: 7-5 Southwestern, and 6-4 South Laurel. I don't think they're good enough to go into Highlands and come away with a victory. Pulaski will keep it respectable, but the Bluebirds passing game is just a bad matchup for the Maroons. I'll take Highlands 35-20.

moose, if you watched the Highlands Woodford game and Pulaski game, there is no way you would take Woodford WR’s over Highlands. They have three no drop WR’s and several other sure handed ones. And Siere #14 is super dangerous after the catch.

I listened to the Pulaski Co broadcast and have to say it is one of the best broadcast I have heard. The two gentlemen did an excellent job and was very nice to listen to. It was also nice to hear them talk about how nice they and the entire team and staff were treated by Highlands. They said best they have ever been treated. A lot of people post negative stuff about highlands that I feel is not true and just people posting after a defeat and it is nice to hear behind the scenes stuff that Highlands does every game get pointed out. If u go to their broadcast they talk about it at the very beginning.

Hey, no way I take Woodfords receivers over Highlands. I’d much rather have surrey/arnold/lorenzen. I just meant the young corners on PC had a harder time guarding the Woodford boys, naturally imo. So big plays were made easier for Woodford, thats why they won, again imo. 14 points in first 5 minutes of game for woodford. Also Pulaski dropped a wide open touchdown pass in 4th quarter (just to make score closer). Woulda, coulda, shoulda I know. Just saying PC could beat woodford, they just didn’t that game. 

Look at the overall stats of the PC Highlands game. Passing D for highlands clearly won that game, 4 int, 1 and almost another pick 6. Devasting for a heavier running team that PC is. PC had to rely on the passing game to try and catch back up and stay in the game, HIghlands tore it up. Score don’t reflect how close the offensive battle was. Hats off to the secondary on Highlands for turning the tide, and sealing up their victory

Overall offense yards for PC - 358 (199 rushing, and 159 passing) with 4 interceptions and a pic 6.
Overall offense for highlands- 373 (44 rushing, 329 passing) 112 interception return yards with touchdown.

Defense wins championships, goodluck with the Cooper rematch

Also, I’ve always enjoyed going to Ft. Thomas to watch these teams play. Never been treated negative in anyway, classy fans and organization from what I’ve experienced. I do think they turn the touchdown song up subtly as the scoring margin increases, only complaint. jk hah
