Harvest Prep 26 Ashland Blazer 10
#1
Final in a late one.

Idk if it was the weather or what but I’ve never seen an Ashland ground game get shutdown like it did last night. I know nothing on HP, but they were fast as hell and flew to the football all night. Ashland needed this game though. Hate that the weather spoiled their opening night on their new turf. Field looked great online.

I remember my dad, who was a contractor, farmer, hunter, country boy who never played sports and rarely attended games once said after a loss, “them fellers over there are just better than our fellers”. That kind of sums up this game.

From a football perspective the offensive line needs attention, which also pretty much sums it up.

I have. In the first game against Raceland they couldn’t run it.

For me HP was a little underwhelming. They had three kids that were miles ahead and f everyone else on the field but I was expecting the big bad wolf do to all the stories I’ve heard about them. Maybe the long trip,Asslands ceremonies and the weather delay played something into their performance. For Assland ….i think their OC is calling a very good offense so far this season. He is really leaning on the strengths of the team while still trying to involve other players. The play designs are really creative and the kids all seem to be in sync with what he is trying to do. As far as this game goes….there was nothing Assland could’ve done to change the outcome of this game. Get better and move on

I agree on the underwhelming. They weren't big at all, but were fast and closed gaps quickly. Ashland didn't look as interested of motivated to me after the long weather delay.

Even though it was a loss, this is a result that was better than I expected for Ashland. Harvest Prep beat powerhouse Pickerington Central on the road Week 1, so I was expecting no less than a four TD margin in this one in favor of HP. Their defense is lights out because they are quick at every position.

I look for Ashland to surprise a lot of people in 4A and potentially play in the state semis for a chance to go to Kroger depending on RPI. Considering what they went through before the season, it speaks a lot to Coach Tackett and the entire staff.

Offense has always been Harvest Prep's main issue. They aren't organized on that side of the ball and rely too much on pure speed and scoring on long plays offensively instead of being creative with playcalling and sustaining long drives. If HP allows more than 25 to any opponent they will have a hard time winning because their offense isn't consistent enough to sustain drives. Better playcalling and HP becomes the favorite to win the Division V State Championship in Ohio.

Believe it or not KC…I agree with you on HO assessment. To me they were a better version of Paris. Talent all over the place but very undisciplined and rely on that talent and athleticism instead of building a system around it. Very “school yard” type of offense.
