Final four is Assumption vs. North Laurel and South Warren vs. Henderson Co. North beat Letcher in opening round, then scored five in the 7th yesterday to beat Boyd Co. 5-4. They have been down some in the last few years, but this will be the program’s fifth trip to the final four, they won state in ‘01, and were runner-up in 2000 and 2007. Also made the final four in ‘03.o

Three shutouts in the semifinals and finals. North Laurel hammered Assumption 8-0 in the semifinals, then second ranked Henderson Co. beat top ranked South Warren 2-0 on two solo home runs in the sixth inning. Henderson then went on to crush North 11-0 in the state championship game for their first state title. Henderson was very good, big and athletic with excellent hitters all the way through the lineup.
