Since Doeer fractured his hand for evangel, they have took a dip. Before that it could’ve been a good matchup as both team probably would’ve been top 10 in the state. But now not so much.

I think you will get 1 exciting game per day. Pikeville/evangel on friday would be fun. Lyon/Newport has two future d1 players matched up on eachother and a really good supporting cast. Probably have one good game thursday.

Imagine Lyon County is the favorite. Newport is probably closer than most would assume. They should be able to do things I've seen Lyon struggle against as long as they don't get whistled out.

Evangel Christian is third and has a nice draw past playing the late games. Their leading scorer has been out the past few games too. Watched them early this season and thought they looked significantly better last March; very different in how their personnel can hurt you defensively and on the glass. They'll want to score a lot, but I don't see anyone in the bottom trying to play them above the 60's.

Sayre looks like a mixed bag. Lost to Henry Clay and Bryan Station at home by a total of 6 points in January but got smoked by South Laurel and Oldham County by a combined 40+ on the road.

Danville Christian, Owensboro Catholic, and Pikeville are interesting enough.

Could see Riley and the Aces slowing things to a crawl against Lyon in the opener. Definitely not calling an upset, just that it might not get blown open from the tip.

I'll take Lyon over Newport and Evangel over Murray in each of the semis with Lyon winning by 15 in the final.

If I was a player I’d hate it. Floor and benches are 15 feet from the start of the bleachers and behind the goals is just dead air. Would suck to shoot at I’d imagine.

As a fan it’s a nice place. Plenty parking and you never have to lose sight of the game cause concession stands and bathrooms are just upstairs around the bleachers so that’s nice.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

During the regional tournaments they usually let the school's student sections fill parts of those areas.

That would make more sense because the open areas behind goals are terrible

One thing that confuses me is why they didn’t allow for the VIP area like they do the regional. The regional tournament has seats all the way around the floor on portable podiums for VIP members. Maybe the all a didn’t want the extra income of having a VIP room? But that’s the major issue. The arena is a nice place for a basketball event IF ITS RAN RIGHT. The games i went to yesterday were all but that. Also the media area is not even close to what it is at the region, and there’s hardly any sponsors. I would say this is on the event coordinator more than the venue itself, because i’ve been the every region there for years and it’s 100 times better.

Maybe it was because of late notice. Cause i believe the games were suppose to be at EKU but they said their floor is being done so then they had to start reaching out to venues.

From what little I’ve seem this is definitely a rebuilding year for Pikeville basketball but they are still the class of the mountains…in academies and pretty much all sports.

If the Girls can win the All A this year, they will join the baseball, boys basketball, and football teams in bringing home Class A state titles to Pikeville over the past few years which is quite an impressive feat.

Hail Pikeville!!
