Great Crossing 57 Madison Central 51
#1
Final from Richmond on January 12.

Saw the Indians late last season and knew that they'd have a bit of turnover in their roster. I don't think anyone thought replacing EKU commit Jaylen Davis was going to be easy. This team will grow and is better than their record indicates; their roster has a ton of sophomores.

Next up for Great Crossing is a match-up with Male at Scott County High School on Saturday. Madison Central will host Frederick Douglass this Friday.

Man MC used to be an 11h region power. What happened to them the last few seasons?

I don't know that anything "happened" really. Just a tough region to come out of. They'll usually win their district but could still get a top 15-25 team to open the regional tournament with two of the runner-ups they may draw.

Lost to Douglass in the regional tournament last season. Didn't look terrible doing it; were down ~10 at the half, ended up being around 20. Douglass could do that to a lot of good teams when they were on though.

OT loss to Great Crossing the year before. None of the regional games past the first round were decided by less than 6.

Made it out in 2021 and lost to Ballard by 9 in the Sweet 16.

Won it all in 2013 and ran into some really good Scott County teams in a handful of the years since. Some really strong Lexington Catholic and Henry Clay teams in those years too. Throw in years like Dunbar's winning State and you'll see how it's just tough for anyone to stay on top of the 11th for long.
