Yep just came in on ESPNEWS. An NBA offical also said he was accepting the job.

Now lets see what the Flordia commits will do. Should be very intresting.

But he's a Gator through & through...I'm loving it. Dickie V. says he's not surprised by the move considering the money and location.

You're right. Will UK land Lucas if he opts out of his committment? What will their recruits do? Who coaches Florida now?

Anthony Grant's name being mentioned as possible successor.

ESPN said the press conference is tomorrow at 11:00 am.

Talk about footing a team as he did in Florida and at the time! But in reality, who could turn that kind of money down??

I had heard this a few weeks ago from someone I work with, and I figured he would stay there and build something, but he just made Rickys mistake. He misled his fans, he's gonna fail in the NBA, and after his ego bottoms out, come back and coach a team 1/2 of what he had at Florida. He SHOULD have taken the UK job, but Im glad he didnt. He'll be wishing that too right about this time next year. And that truly puts Florida in quite a bind too. And what about those recruits there? Ahh..Jai Lucas. Let him stay in Florida, and let him be an average point guard down there. Dont need him in Lexington anyways. I got a feeling he'll be rethinking that circus he put on to go to Florida, lol..

Someone on http://www.catspause.com said that Lucas is looking to opt out of his letter of intent.

 He will be offered the job, and will accept it IMO...
Not that I dont think they can go get a bigger name, but Grant's roots int he program (he helped recruit most of the kids who won the two championships) gives him the huge upper hand...

I think the College has to grant him permission to look at other schools. I don't think he can just up and leave now that the coach is gone. The Letter of Intent is to play for the school not the coach so the player has to ask the school before persuing other options.
Anyways this news took me by surprise and I think the collapse of Flordia's basketball program will follow right behind.

IMO, He already turned down Kentucky. If he did want to come too UK I wouldn't accept him. He was only a 4 Star recruit (Basically a project player). Plus we don't need anymore guards.

And the next men's head basketball coach for the Miami Hurricanes will be....... Billy Donovan lol.

Foley, the UF AD, released a statement saying that no player will be let out of their LOI until they have hired and met the new head basketball coach. So it sounds to me like if the players don't like the coach, then they will let them out of it.
