Collins 69 Spencer County 56
#1
Final

The Titans pick up another 30th District Championship. Spencer County will advance to the regional tournament for the first time since 2011.

Dayvion McKnight scored 19 and was named MVP. Marcellus Vail lead the way with 24. Coach Dennis Felton was in the house tonight, presumably to watch McKnight and/or Vail.

IMO Vail was MVP this week.
Also, Spencer should never be allowed to host a district tournament in basketball nor baseball. Gym WAYYYYY too small

It is funny you say the gym is too small when the Collins/Shelby game wasn't even sold out. That was a great environment for high school basketball. Yes on the boys championship night it got crowded, but the college coaches in attendance raved about the environment, the high school coaches in the gym scouting were pumped about the environment.

As for baseball this district is investing $7 million in athletic facility upgrades so when we host the district in the spring of 2020 our facility will be where it needs to be.

Well you say that and only one night was at capacity and that was the Boys district championship night. The Collins/Shelby game wasn't sold out. The college coaches in attendance, high school coaches in attendance scouting and a lot of great basketball people raved about the environment. Including one very prominent college coach saying that environment was what high school basketball was all about.

As for baseball the Spencer district is spending about $7 million in athletic and academic facility upgrades. When the baseball district is held here in 2020 this facility will be first class. I know we were not just handed a $50 million dollar facility with all the amenities but we are proud of what we have and things are only going to continue to get better.

Point about the gym is that it is so small that you can only play one game a night.

Way time baseball was updated and hope with lights. Short porch in right and lights are the baseball deal and I know a lot of dads spend a lot of time working on it.

NIce work on the building at the football field. Much needed. Surprised the turf was coming up, best field to play on in the area. Are they adding some sort of visitors bench to the football field?

Ok, so you are critical of our facilities but don't realize we had lights last baseball season? Also as far as one game a night, it does make for a long week but as an administration we are willing to put the extra nights in to make it a good week.

It was a good week.
Just had to go 3 extra nights.
Been a few years since around baseball.
Complimented football

With Woodford County joining the district next year adding another game to both the boys and girls tournament, it will be very difficult for Spencer County to host the district if they can only play one game a night. I'm glad they are updating their other facilities, not sure why someone would get so defensive over it. I'm sure everyone can agree the upgrades they are putting in are much needed and I'm glad that the players and fans at Spencer County will be able to enjoy these upgrades. The problem with the gym size still remains however, and unfortunately not much can be done about that. I'm wondering, are there any other district tournaments where the boys and girls play at the same location but only one game is played each night? Or with the 5 team district starting next year, will they be forced to play two games a few nights?
