It's not every kids dream to play at the next level. I bet 75% of mountain kids play basketball because they like it or because they want to go to state. That next level crap is not for everyone. And most people know it

4Ever witness, where is it you played in college. Only Leslie County guy I can think of that went anywhere to play besides Union College was Tim Couch. Nobody on here has ever saw any true talent? What all have you seen?

But In reality if a kid wants to get to the next level and is truly good enough it helps them zero to switch from Hazard to Perry to Knott. YOU SIMPLY DONT GET NOTCIED HERE bc everyone on this website has never left EASTERN KENTCKY and has never seen true talent outside of this area.
Wanna know why most of them donât get noticed? Because they arnt good enough. If you are good enough doesnât matter if you play for Buckhorn or Trinity. Itâs not 1960

I was at the tournament this weekend and there's a lot of talent there. The Day kid and McAlarnis, specifically.
I was at the East/West game and with those two teams alone Perry will be hard to handle once they get older. Saw several players who could make an impact the next 4 years.

I didnât play here. My family has been here had a great uncle Jim Calhoun that played on Knott County well âCarr creekâ State Championship team then he when on to win a national title at Cincinnati. I played in Ohio growing up and played football at Mami OH. I can home for my kids to grow up in Eastern KY and got a teaching job here as well!

And yes your exactly right. If they are good enough they will get notcied. But if they are say only a 2 Star that can eventually develop in college and be a big time player about 90% of the time they will go unnoticed here because of how bad the competition is. Unlike Tim Couch which was the best QB in the nation at the time. Lol

I hope nothing but the best for Leslie County. But as for Perry being down after this year, I wouldn't say down. Probably won't be as good. Be hard to replace a kid like Noah Back. Noah has had a great career and has put up big numbers for 4 years. Be hard to replace big Noah Caudill to. 6'6 is huge for this region. He's improved leaps and bounds to the past 4 years. We do have some strong middle school kids coming up but I'd say they all wont stay together. Think some are going to Buckhorn. But I hope nothing but the best for Leslie County.

And yes teams like Leslie could do a lot to FIX their programs. Some programs like Pikeville do the recruiting for themselves. Hire a good coach that can coach in today's world and put some money into your programs. Good things will happe
I agree, find a Coach that knows how to build a program. Players are made in the off season. Have Youth Clinics, put local AAU team together. Have a summer program for your kids. Leslie County has good, hard working kids. Administration needs to get away from good ole good boy standards. JMO:HitWall:

Someone should be paid to do all that work. Our kids are worth the money. Sports play a big part in our children's life. You just can't expect people to put that much time in for free. There are some that will be very very few.

There are no good basketball teams in the 14th region... compared to the rest of the state.

There are a few good teams in the 14th region that could surprise you but it is hard to compete against teams that are hand picked from 2-5 counties or 2-3 states take those teams out and 14th region has as good a chance for state title as any other just my opinion

Youth Clinic for Boys and Girls, Local AAU Teams for both. Individual Work outs for players who need it. A Wt. Program for both. Very little real money involved just need a Coach who will do these things to develop his players and build his program. If he don't want to do it find a Coach who will.:truestory

True Story..... Ive known a lot of people have devoted a lifetime to helping kids. There just arent many people like that any more all I am saying. People want to spend 30 dollars an hour to get someone to do dribbling drills with their kid one day a week. Well all Im saying is, pay some of the coaches for this type thing and they may invest more time into developing kids. There isnt many Heston Beverlys these days especially around these parts. Why pay an outsider 30 bucks an hour when theres people right here in our back yards that would do it for much less. For instance Denny Fugate would be a good one to instruct kids with basketball skills. Gotta have a gym to use to. With insurance legalities you gonna have problems.

Heck, Perry County needs a Sportsplex or YMCA.

I agree that there is a chance for a 14th region team to suprise you but the 14th in most cases has been beat out in the first round of the state playoffs. Only a hand full of times in the last few years has a 14th region team won the first round of state. Not to take away from the kids... but the 14th region is a weak region in basketball.
