#2
He is leaving.
#3
I've heard he is getting a front office job
#4
That's where he's going. I've heard two different stories on the girl's basketball job, I've heard Johnny Alvin will get it and I've heard Brian Hundley.
#5
good luck lady cats and coach NAPIER!
#6
he is not taking a front office job. he got a job to be a state educator for the education department. this is a very prestigious job. i wish him the best

I like coach Napier best of luck what ever he does.
#8
I know you will be greatly missed by the kids at SV. Good Luck!!

i heard about this at Haley's signing, great for him but crap luck for the Lady Cats. Valley had finaly found a coach who the girls got along with and the fans loved fully. Now where will this lead Valley, a team who has had great success uner Napier now will have to look to find a coach which can do the same. I hate to hear this for the seniors who will now have to learn a new system.

It will be Rodney Rowe. It was suppose to be Johnny Alvin, but I was told this was arrange since the beginning of this year.

Hate to hear this, I have worked with coach Napier on several occasions through many different sports. I consider him a great friend and a great quality coach, hate to see him leave but wish him the best!!

Hopefully, the people who will do the hiring will recognize Johnnie Alvin for his hardwork and devotion to the young ladies associated with the program and give him a shot at continuing the success of the program. He took a very young and inexperienced JV team, and made them competitive by seasons end. Word is, he has the summer planned and has already begun fundraising. He is a class act and knows his stuff.
#13
so he will be leaving softball too?
#14
Yes EF, Napier is leaving Shelby Valley for a job in Frankfort, It'd be crazy to work their during the day and come to Pikeville after school to coach.
#15
napier is a great coach! and i for one will miss him greatly! he has been nothing but the best for me! i wish him the best of luck at his new job, and i hope it works out for him!

rowe and alvin in my opinion will both be a great coach for valley! however alvin has been a very important asset for both valley girls and the coaching staff, and would continue to do nothing but help them! he really wants the job and would be very dedicated if he gets it!

Napier is a good man and a great coach. He has to do what is best for him and his family though and this seems like the right thing to do. Good luck Nape.

However SV should not consider Rodney Rowe, PERIOD. He quit on the boys enough times and showed he couldnt win with big time talent more than once.

Alvin isn't much better probably worse, but I'd take him over Rowe just because I think he can relate to the girls better.

I vote to bring back Spears to lead the team back to glory just like old times.

1regional title is glory!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not know why you all are so big on Spears. He coached 23 years. If I couldn't win more than one regional title I would quit myself. If I coached 23 years and won 10 games a season then I would look like a good coach. Spears is not a great coach. He was just the only one in that area that cared about girls basketball.

Napier will be missed at Sv. He is not only a good girls coach but he is the teacher that all the kids love. He has brought school spirt back to SV. I look for Sv hire a coach in the next two weeks.
#21
Napier has certainly brought pride and class to girl's athletics at Valley and to the region. He will be greatly missed in sports and in the classroom. Kids at Valley really love and respect him. Best of luck Nape!
#22
Sorry but I must have missed the glory days of Spears and the legacy he made for Valley. He was a fine coach but lets not get carried away.
#23
Spears was a coach that had a mind for the game but he could not put it out on the court unlike Napier. Napier had/has the mind for the game and can put it out on the floor. Alot of coahes are like Spears they know what to do but just can seem to get it together to pull out the big wins. I know for one I am at ease to know Napier is gone the past two seasons Valley has had me worried going into the semis of regionals. Will be intresting to see who Valley gets to replace him. Does anyone know a time frame on when a new coach will be announced??
#24
Napier is a great coach... But he has chose to walk away from the job... its not just a job, but a DEDICATION!.... and he knew he couldnt be dedicated and he wants more for the girls.... Theses girls are fine girls and know what to do.... they have overcome many obstac;es and getting a new coach will only help them.... If johnnie Alvin gets the job... nothing will really change... he was a big assest to the team from day one and made many big decisions.... and if rowe gets it .... thats fine too... he has always helped in the community.... the onyl person i wouldnt want to see get it would be hundley... he's not experienced.... alvin id def the best choice.... good lucks valley im expecting big things next season... even bigger than last years sucess..
#25
With Booher being the head man for the boys and one of the assistant principals, I wouldn't doubt one bit that Hundley gets the job.
