ALLAS - An off-duty officer fatally shot a man Thursday when she walked into the wrong apartment after work, officials said.

The officer, who has not been named, came home around 10 p.m., went into what she thought was her apartment and fatally shot Botham Shem Jean, KDFW reports.

So you just see a burglar and immediately pull the trigger? How did she not notice that it wasn’t her apartment when she walked in the door and saw different decor?

A little more light was shed on what happened in this shooting. It is being reported that the officer had just gotten off a 15 hour shift when she returned to what she thought was her apartment. As it turns out she had parked on the 4th floor of the apartments instead of the 3rd floor which she lives. When she tried to put her key in the door, it opened. The lights were off in the apartment. She saw someone and when they ignored her verbal commands she fired two shots. When she turned the lights on, she realized she was in the wrong apartment. She has been charged with manslaughter. Those çharges could be upgraded.
