Boyd 65 Ashland 59

What a game this was. Ashland showed a ton of heart in this one being without their leading scorer in Parker, losing their 3rd leading scorer in Martin to an injury, and having 4 players foul out. Boyd won it at the free throw line, shooting 40 free throws to Ashland’s 20. The regional tournament is going to be worth the price of admission.

Hard to overcome all this and fts being at 40 to Ashland 20 typical BC. Seems like everytime they drove the ball they called a foul! Great game none the less and yes it will be fun!

It's a shame a District Championship game has to have a cloud of ineptitude hanging over it. Referees out of position-calling other referees areas-anticipating calls-and just flat out bad! And trust me- it was bad both ways! One thing that bothers me most when I watch games- I go to watch the best play the best- and I hate to see officials call ticky tack fouls on players to put them in foul trouble and change the way they have to play. A game should be called the same in the 1st few minutes as it is in the last few- a foul is a foul no matter score or situation. A lot of phantom fouls in this game. I've watched Boyd girls for awhile now-and I'm not afraid to say that they get the benefit of calls at home and even on the road in the 16th Region. I feel like the Region could do a better job of assigning officials to games of this caliber. I swear the one official blew his whistle a few times and would walk to face score table and have no clue what he was going to call- and probably forgot before he got there. And I repeat- it was bad both ways! Felt Robinson could have fouled out in 4th quarter on a few offensive fouls- and felt Boyd got more than their fair share of phantom calls at the rim. Also hate to see kids being able to approach officials unless they are Captains- and officials permitting it but then won't listen to a Coach. Proud of the Lady Lions and their accomplishment of District Champs- love the underdog fight The Kittens put up- and it truly was a great game to watch- just hate seeing 60 foul shots being shot- that's not a typo-60! 60 foul shots are usually reserved for subpar talent games or when a game gets chippy and out of hand- and this game was neither! It was a good clean hard fought game from both teams. Louisville getting a good one in Robinson and Marshall is lucky to land a player like Wheeler. Regions ought to be just as good and I wouldn't be surprised if their was a major upset. I'm telling you- Rowan gave us fits - WC still a scary team-Kittens and Lady Lions both playing well right now- and I still feel Russell is the team to beat. Morehead should be rocking next week! Good luck ladies!

Dookie you are dead on! It was hard to watch! Lets just hope the regional with the out of region refs are waaaaaay better.

Maybe if the Kittens have only one player out and mostly fouls even it will be a GREAT game!
