LOS ANGELES - UCLA shot 52% from the field and from the three-point line to defeat Utah, 83-64, Thursday night in Pauley Pavilion.
Junior guard Aaron Holiday recorded his eighth 20-point game of the season for UCLA, scoring a game-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Holiday was a perfect 4-for-4 from the three-point line and added six assists. Freshman Kris Wilkes was close behind with 19 points.
UCLA (13-4, 4-1 in the Pac-12) made five three-pointers in the first four and a half minutes to jump out to a 19-7 lead. The Utes (10-6, 2-3) scored seven unanswered points to close to within three, 28-25, with 6:36 to play in the half, but the Bruins held the Utes at bay and went into the locker room at halftime up 41-33.
The Bruins opened the second half on a 9-2 run to open up their lead to 15 points, 50-35, and used an 12-3 run to take an 18-point lead, 69-51, with 8:19 to play. UCLA led by as many as 21 points in the half.
Joining Holiday and Wilkes in double-figure scoring were Prince Ali, who had 13 points to go along with a career-high and team-leading nine rebounds, and Jaylen Hands, who scored 12 points with five rebounds. David Collette led Utah with 15 points.
