(1) Georgetown College 107 Miami University Hamilton 75
#1
The final score was lopsided as expected, but the pathway there was not for the Georgetown College men's basketball team Saturday. The No. 1 Tigers (15-0) defeated Miami University Hamilton, 107-75. Shadell Millinghaus led with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but at times the team sputtered with turnovers and some rust of not playing since Dec. 4.

The Harriers trailed 30-15 early in the first half, before getting it to a two possession game. GC closed the half on an 11-3 run. This gave them a double digit lead again, one it never relinquished. MUH scored four of the first six points in the second half, but got no closer than 11.

Quan Poindexter (19), Jahyde Gardiner (16), Jacob Conway (15) and Trent Gilbert (12) also reached double figures for the Tigers – on its best start under coach Chris Briggs. Poindexter added eight rebounds, while Eljay Cowherd and Troy Steward each had seven rebounds. Darion Burns led the way with assists – seven (more than a third of GC's total and half the total of MUH).

The 2015-16 team started 14-0 before losing a road conference game to Shawnee State. That team went on to win the Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament titles as well as advanced to the national finals.

Georgetown is back in action 4 pm Saturday at No. 21 Campbellsville University – the MSC opener.
