Ask any coach in region to pick a player to start a team. 100% of coaches will pick Gibson without hesitation. She is a unique talent which is one of a kind in the region and mountains. The only division 1 prospect in region.

They may be ( I haven't seen either play this year except on tv highlights), maybe they're better than last year. But if I had to pick a starting lineup from all the region schools I would definitely start Kash at the PG and Gibson at center/forward. I don't know who the rest of the team would be but I suppose Proffitt and Hall would be on it too. But Kash would be my point guard. That kid is very tough and talented. And Macie has proven herself since last season and also on the summer AAU circuit in Kentucky and other states. So, my starting 5 would have those two for sure. Then fill in the other 3 spots with the best that Perry, Knott, Estill, Leslie, Letcher, Hazard, or anyone else has. But those two would be locks. These are only opinions but that's why I think they are the two best players in the region.
Also, when discussing "best player" status one must also consider which players have the most future college potential. Gibson has D-1 schools interested in her. She will play AAU this summer on a team designated for D-1 prospects. She has a very nice basketball future if she continues to work hard and stay dedicated.

There's no doubt that she is a special talent and will play at the D1 level in college. The junior class across the state of Kentucky is absolutely loaded with talent. Some of the best in the country. My opinion may very well change, but I just feel that Profitt is the best in the region right now. Just today she set the single game scoring record in the WYMT Mountain Classic with 39 points and set the single tournament scoring record as well. Both records were held by former Bell County star and Miss Basketball Maci Morris who is now one of the top players for UK.

If you think teams don't key on Proffitt just come watch a game she is double and triple teamed every game. And oh by the way you can argue opinions but not stats. Proffitt not Gibson leads the state in scoring and as of today's game she now holds the girls single game scoring record in the WYMT with 39. Not my opinion FACT

Gibson had 28 for Owsley but they did a good defensive job on her.I agree that they are fine players, but pcc guards hall a profit are pretty good too! Profit is the best back court player in the 14th. 32 point per game! Her team is 12 an 2, she also just broke the record for most points in a game at the wymt classic with 39!!
Lee had more balance in their offense than Owsley. They had several different girls that scored 3 pointers to help Kash in the effort. Owsley is a little young with two 8th graders, a freshman and a sophomore to go along with junior Macie Gibson in the starting lineup, and a couple more 8th graders as subs.
In my opinion the 2 best players in the 14th region reside in the 56th district. Kash is the number 1 backcourt player and Gibson is the number 1front court player. It would be amazing what those two could do together if they were on the same team.

Obviously very good players with stats like that. It's good to have so many talented players in the 14th. I haven't seen them play since last year. Only seen tv highlights. I'm looking forward to watching a few games out in the region in the next few weeks.

Boogie Wrote:Those saying that Lee is that much better of a team than Owsley are delusional. Gibson had an off night shooting, had nothing to do with Lee defending her well. These 2 teams will meet again on Monday in the All A and with some minor adjustments and good game from Gibson Owsley is more than capable of winning the game.
LOOKAYANNER Wrote:Where will the All A game be played Monday?
I agree with you that there's not much difference in these two teams. And Gibson did indeed have an off shooting night and still had 28. But I do think Lee is a little older and more experienced than Owsley. Plus, the Lady Owls are going to have to figure out how to stop Kash. Lee goes as she goes. And she is consistent, averaging 26 ppg. She also probably leads the region in steals.
Owsley's chances ride on the back of Gibson, and I have a feeling Monday night that she'll rise to the occasion.
Boogie Wrote:Don't think so, they hardly missed from behind the arc and got 31 from Kash. Go back to ITT tech and get a clue Doc
Streetoutlaw Wrote:Owsley had an off shooting night. Lee did not. Owsley missed 4/5 lay ups to start the game and spotted lee a double digit lead to start game. That won't happen again. Each time these teams step on the floor it will be a good one. Both are good teams capable of beating anyone. With that being said the important game is Monday night and I expect a different result. Like boogie said a couple of minor adjustments and a different result.
Owsley by 6/8 Monday Night.
Streetoutlaw Wrote:I can't believe anyone would think Lee is a 20 point better team than Owsley. Lee shot well last night, Owsley didn't and it was close. If you were honest about it you would admit that there is very little difference in these two teams and each game could go either way.
So how do you like your crow? Fried, grilled, or baked? :lmao:

Don't understand the reasoning. Gibson is on a team where she has to do it all. If she was on a team with another scorer or two I have to think she would average less. She is a great player but no way she is better than Proffitt or Hall

I think you know better you just want to argue. Ask the best coach in the region and he will tell you he ain't trading Proffitt for no player in the state

Lee wins easily in the All-A.... the difference in Profitt and Gibson is Profitt will put the team on her back and get the win. And for those saying she can't play D-1, she already has offers. Best player and best team.

Great win for Lee
