East Ridge 38 Phelps 18
#1
Not often do I get to see one player dominate a game the way I did in this one. Don't get me wrong, I understand without the great play of the offensive line, the 393 yards, 5 touchdowns that #3 Brodey Johnson ran for, would not have taken place. But it was fun from this fan's eyes to watch the young man do his thing on the field.

Phelps was forced into a punting situation with 9:27 left in the opening frame, but a horrible snap led to the punter trying to complete a pass that was incomplete. This would set the stage for how most of the rest of the day would go for the Hornets.

Just seven seconds after getting the ball, the Warriors offensive line would make a statement as to how this one was going to go all game long, With the work of the line #23 Miles Adkins went for a 16-yard run right up the gut of the Hornets defense.

At the 6:50 mark on a 3rd and 3 play, Brodey Johnson would pick up the first down, giving his team a first and goal at the three yard line. Johnson would use the work of his line to go in for the score, from three yards out, with 6:32 left in the quarter. Johnson would then convert a two point run making this a,8-0 Warriors lead. The drive lasted for seven plays and totaled 38-yards. All seven plays were rushing attempts.

Phelps got a 18-yard run by,Garrett Clevenger to move the chains, with 6:16 left in the quarter.
Facing a 4th and 2, the hornets opted to go for it, but the Warriors defense was ready as they stopped #34 Preston Stump short of the chains, to get the ball back to their offense, with 8:54 left.

The Warriors would only need one play to score again. Johnson would take a hand off and go 81-yards untouched for the score. He broke right and never looked back. He would again convert a two point run to make this a, 16-0 game, with 9:36 left in the Early on you could tell that the Warriors were much stronger up front and that Johnson was going to have a big game.

Phelps showed some signs of life when, #4 Daniel Smith broke to the right and did not stop until he had a 15-yard run.
The clock read 4:39 when, Dylen New picked up five years, making the stop for the Warriors was,Michael Hamilton.
At the 3:46 mark when, Clevenger was picked off by the Warriors, #1 Kane Taylor on a badly thrown pass.

The Warriors again needed one play to score their next touchdown, and again, it would be Johnson doing the honors, this time on a 42-yard run. He would show some power and determination on this run by breaking several tackles on his way into the end zone. #2 Eli King would convert the two point run to make this a,24-0 game, at the 3:33 mark.

The Hornets were bound and determined to get back into this one by staying on the ground and with 2:25 remaining in the half #3 Peyton Rife made that choice look good with a 17-yard pick up. Just 28 seconds later Rife got the hand off again, but this time Hamilton
and #7 Braeden Ward stopped him after he had gone only one yard. The Hornets got on the scoreboard on a 3-yard plunge by, Clevenger. Clevenger would be sacked by, #22 Mikey Thompson to keep this a,24-6 game.

With 7:57 left in the third, Johnson picked up 23-yards, down to the Phelps 5-yard line.
The promising drive ended with a fumble, that was recovered by the Hornets #25 Lawrence Mayhorn, with 7:24 left.

With 5:00 left in the quarter Phelps got a 61-yard touchdown run by, Clevenger. A two point conversion play failed, leaving this a,24-12 Warriors lead.

4:41 showed on the clock when Johnson broke several tackles and used a spin move to pick up 51-yards. Then with 2:59 left in the quarter, Johnson scored from 10-yards out. Ward was sacked by #33 Dylen Fields on a two point conversion play, to leave this a 30-12 game, with 2:59 in the quarter.

With just 5:34 left in the game Johnson would break a tackle and score from 10-yards out, on a 4th and 10 play. #8 C.J.Branham converted on a 2-pt run making this a,38-12 game.

Phelps showed that they had no quit in them with a nice 31-yard pass play by,Clevenger to #8 Christian Mounts, with 4:18 left in the contest.
Clevenger would use his feet to pick up 19-yards at the 4:18 mark. Then with 4:00 left Clevenger connected with ## Peyton Rife for a 28-yard score.Clevenger was stopped by # 70 Will Adkins and company, to keep this a 38-18 game.

Phelps got a fumble recovery by Rife with 3:50 left and the final nice play for the Hornets came with 3:11 left and that was a 25-yard pass to Mounts form Clevenger.
