Final from the Expo. What a low scoring game. Nevertheless Congrats to the lady wildcats. Mullins the games leading scorer with 10.

Congrats to Shelby Valley

Why was the scoring so low? Did one team hold the ball?

Just really a lot of missed shots plus that. Lot of easy lay ups missed.

First off, let me say congrats to the Lady Cats. The girls have now won region 3 of the last 4 years. Impressive run, and one that may continue for the next few years considering all the young talent coming up. However...
Oof, what a painful game to watch. This game had to have set a record for fewest total points in a regional championship game. Yes, both teams played good defense, but not THAT good. I saw Valley miss several layups, and I believe Magoffin missed a couple too. Seemed like almost every player for both teams was playing on tired legs.
The one player that played well for Valley was the steady senior, Lakyn Mullins. She finished with 10 of Valley's 23 points, despite taking very few shots. Magoffin packed in a zone and dared Valley to beat them from the outside, and the strategy almost worked. SV did not get the ball inside nearly enough, and seemed content to just jack up threes all night long (most were misses). But when the game was on the line, she stepped up and nailed two crucial free throws to give Valley the lead for good.
I must say one thing, about the only thing more painful than watching a game where neither team can hit a shot, is having your team lose a game like that. As a Valley fan, at least I'm glad our girls won. And when they hang a regional championship banner into the rafters, it won't have the score of the game listed.
Finally, despite having horrendous shooting today, Shelby Valley had been the best team in the region all season long, and deserved to get to go represent this area at the state tournament. So congrats once again, and good luck at state! :1:

SV is going to be a team to be reckoned with for years to come.

SV could be really good if all the players stay at Valley and do not transfer elsewhere like some have already.

Wright and Stewart would make them dominate
