Fairview QB Alex Roy committed per WLGC today to play for Marshall next season

Per WLGC Radio Fairview senior QB Alex Roy verbally committed today to play for Marshall University next season . Alex garnered a lot of interest , but in the end decided to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather to play for Marshall . Big congrats to this outstanding young man !

Is he going on scholarship or walking on? Either way congrats to the young man. Really good football player who has been very underrated for the last two years.

Honestly I don't know for sure , but I do know for a fact he did have scholarship offers on the table . I also know several schools requested information ,& video on him since the season ended .I also know for a fact Marshall came to Fairview high school to talk to him right before Christmas break , but that is all I can say for sure. The radio didn't specify one way or the other just said he verbally committed.

Great either way. I think a lot of people assume that you can just walk on wherever you want and that's just not the case. Still a recruiting process involved there. Would be nice to see him work his way into some playing time.

I'm hearing hes a preferred walk on , which is great that's a D1 school so he most likely had some smaller school offers .. Good luck to him hope I get to watch him play on Saturdays

saw him play last year, he's a very athletic quarterback
