Clay over Wayne on 20th Reunion Night!!!
#1
Don't know the final score, but the Clay Co. Tigers made a VERY hard-fought comback to beat the Wayne Co. Cardinals, and 3 refs in my opinion, winning by 7.

The Tigers trailed by as many as 13 in the game, and by 7 after 3 qtrs., but came out firing in the final quarter, and weren't going to be denied this win, AT HOME, in front of a HUGE crowd, AND in front of coach Bobby Keith and the 1987 State Champion Clay Co. Tigers.

The only way Wayne Co. will play in the 13th is if they are allowed 12th region officials to come over and call the game, and they certainly got EVERY call tonight. And some just blatant calls, or no-calls!!

BUT, a good win by the Tigers, moving to 8-2 on the year.

Before the game, the entire '87 team was in the locker room with the '07 team, and coach Spurlock allowed coach Keith to give the pre-game pep talk. One of the most memorable and exciting speeches, reportedly, given ever!! Even the '87 Tigers were fired up and wanted to resume their playing careers on this night after that speech!!

Coach Spurlock has this team headed in the right direction!! Keep up the GREAT work Tigers!!!! Don't stop working hard and getting the Spurlock system down pat.

This was a great night for not only Clay County basketball, but mountain basketball. The pre game ceremonies were very heart warming, while Coach Keith's pre-game was awesome. Everyone that heard it just wanted to go out there and wear the black and gold. Now to the game. The 12th region refs are terrible, but Clay fought through for the huge come from behind win. The first 3 quarters the ball just wasn't bouncing the Tiger's way, but instead of giving up the Tigers turned up the heat in the 4th quarter. If there is a loose bl on the floor there is 5 Tiger jersey's on the floor, if they don't get it isn't because they aint giving the effort. I think this time could be dangerous come Febuary and March, expecially if Slusher was granted an early diploma at Bell. Go Tigers!!!!!
