Are Holiday tournaments getting out of hand? Are there too many tournaments? The tourney's with 4 games in 4 days can really wear a team out this early in the season. Is it too much?? Would practice time benefit them more this time of year?? The crowds have been really down. Fans just aren't supporting the teams around Christmas time like they used to. Has it gotten out of hand? Thoughts??

I think that tournaments during Christmas are good for the exprience of the teams if there playing good competition.

This was a topic of discussion on The Sports Guys show, Thursday night.
Yes, there are TOO many tournaments.
Teams benefit from tournament play but MOST need the extra time in the gym during this time practicing and preparing for district play...we all know how important seeding is.

Tourneys Are Good But 4 Games In 4 Days, Coaches Are Asking For Injuries.

I like the holiday tournamemts, but I think they need to cut down on them. B/c there are too many going on. But it's good practice for the teams.

The more tourneys the better to a point. The downside is that as there become more tourneys there are fewer teams to go around and basketball fans can't be everywhere at once so it is harder to see all of the good games and it hurts attendance. But I don't think that they are out of hand.

Yeah I love the holiday tournaments more than alot of ppl on here, I get out to watch alot of the games at different tourneys. But here recently in the last few years there have been alot more tourneys come along and thats wearing alot of teams down, but makes for good experience come the later part of the season. And for the crowds not supporting there schools very much during these holiday tourneys, maybe you would think were it is the holidays these fans might have more important things to do like spend quailty time with there family and other sorts of things, thats just my opinion.

Yes, there are more important things in life than basketball.

I think the tourneys are just fine, most of the time after the tournament, u get a week off from games and everything so its really not that bad

The Holiday Tourn's around here are an a attempt at a fund raiser for the team and school. But with attendence down, does the school end up loosing money?

Instead of having these tourneys, I would rather have a showcase like Perry Central had. Bring in some of the top teams in the state and match them up with the top team in the region or a top team in a surrounding state. I think this would bring the fans out.
